Default Lightweight Z coming!

Okay, so I went to a Japanese bookstore yesterday and read up on an article (I think it was Holiday Auto) about the lighweight Z Nissan is working on. I've read about this b4 but this time, it's for real and that the car will be displayed at the Tokyo Auto Salon next Jan.
Apparently, the original intent was for much lighter weight but because of production and time constraints and stuff, they released the Z as we see it now. But the development continued and is finally ready, the Z as it was meant to be!
The engine is also worked on. New pistons, cams, it sounded like the Nismo parts list. And the redline is lifted to 7200! The engine tweak is for better response than for power, it said, which figures because of Japan's 280hp limit.
Oh, one more thing, TT version has been spotted and confirmed but no word on production.
Just wanted to share that with everyone.

Would this mean a 2006 introduction, if it were true?

smells like BS if ask me. I don't think Nissan is going to make the same mistake as the did with the 300zx TT. It would cost way too much money and not enough people would but it to justify production

Hmmmm... Sounds a bit too good to be true. I don't believe much of what's rumored to be coming until I read official word from Nissan or see it at an Auto show.

What Zakira is saying is true... to a point.

I have read the same thing in several Japanese car magazines. However, it is still rumor ... and nothing has yet been confirmed whether Nissan will introduce the "lightweight" Z.

Wouldnt a lightweight, TT Z really cut into the GTR's market? I mean, they would offer similar levels of performance for far cheaper, stealing sales from GTR and jacking profit, as the GTR will probably be from 50k up.

They need to drop the weight at least 200lbs, then it would be great!

I would not be sad if they increased hp on new Z, I would just copy their mods or buy another one

The 280hp limit has been thrown out the window. Gloves are off and we, the consumers, will benefit from it.

I want to believe it, but it just doesn't make sense. Why change something that doesn't need to be changed? Sales are good, and so far the competition isn't (i.e. RX-Suck) Also it would cut into the GTR sales. I could maybe see the HP rising to a nice even number like 300 but, TT's I don't thinks so. Although I hope I wrong, I would love a factory TT 350Z
