Default Want your feedback

When the whole Porsche Boxster craze began, people were offering big money to the first owners of the cars. I knew people who bought the car because they knew they'd make money on it. It was not unheard of for people to receive offers upwards of $10,000 (above MSRP) for their new baby. In addition, the price of the car was raised pretty dramatically by Porsche from their initial base price the first year of production. So, what I would like to know from all of you is:

a) Do you think there will be offers from people dying to get into your Z?
b)How much money would it take for you to consider selling it? (I would not give it up so fast, but $10,000 (over MSRP) I would definitely do- but I would replace it w/another Z ofcourse)
c)What are the chances that Nissan would do as Porsche did and raise the price of this car down the road?

Looking forward to your responses

I wouldn't be surprised if people offered a premium to those of us that get our Z's early. I'm coutning on this to maintain the value so that I don't take too big a hit when I get the coupe in the Spring.

I don't think Nissan will raise the price of the Z significantly in the near future. One of the primary reasons Nissan scratched the 300 ZX is that it priced itself out of the market at well over $40k. They're pretty resolute on making a high-performance sports car at a reasonable price. Besides, a more expensive Z would canibalize thir next, more powerful sports car, if they indeed produce it.

a) to me personally? probably not.
b) 10K over my costs is reasonable. that's about 125% profit, enough to buy another Z w/ goodies.
c) I dunno. From my limited Z history... the first couple generations of Z's were affordable... and as they got farther away, the Z's got pricier and pricier eventually forcing it into temporary extinction. I hope Nissan doesn't do this but it really depends if they stick to their guns in the long haul.

BTW, I do know of people who did pre-order more than one Z with plans to sell/auction off their other Z pre-order (s). I think that this practice was kinda dishonest since every pre-order "taken" for personal gain, meant one honest individual was a$$ed out from the program.
