Default my 350z is a lemon

I purchased a vehicle a 2006 Nissan 350z from Gateway Car Dealer in Jamaica, NY on December 14, 2008. In doing so, I obtained a $24,000 loan from M&T bank. When making the move to buy the vehicle I made phone calls and visited the day before purchase, I’ve asked questions like “What’s wrong with the car, how come the price is as such compared to the same type of vehicle at other dealerships with more mileage and damage?” They responded that they want to get rid of the vehicle and the price is as stated because of the downfall of the economy. I’ve also noticed that there was warranty papers taped up on the inside of the window of the vehicle.
I returned the next day to make the purchase on the vehicle. On the way home with the vehicle purchased, the first thing I found out was that the steering wheel horn did not work nor did any of the buttons. As I got familiar with the vehicle I noticed many different lights that were lit on the dashboard. When I got home I immediately went online to see what they meant. (1)The first light was the air bag failure light, I thought I could just go back to Gateway Dealership to get this problem resolved I figured since none of the steering wheel accessories were working, it wasn’t hooked up. (2) The second light was the SLIP light. (3) The third was the VDC light.
I was afraid that there were more problems in the vehicle so I took it my nearest mechanic for a logistics test, to see if there are any more problems they can spot by eyeballing the vehicle. The mechanics told me the entire engine block was taken apart, the oil pan was sealed in, the vehicle was equipped with a turbo kit, the vehicle engine was poorly rebuilt with many missing pieces, the entire front bumper support was removed and the catalytic converter was removed and replaced with test pipes. For precautionary measures I have changed the oil into the highest grade oil I was offered. With a print out of what the mechanic stated I returned to Gateway Dealership they offered to fix most of the vehicles faults, mainly the lit dashboard items. They fixed the horn, steering wheel accessories, the SLIP and VDC light. When I asked them what about the catalytic converter they stated that catalytic converter is too expensive for them to replace. I asked them what am I going to do when I due for inspections, I stated I will not pass without a catalytic converter, the dealer stated “just buy one in the streets, buy the [inspection] sticker in the street”. Shocked by what they told me I returned home.
Late January comes by and the check engine light goes on and off. Taking precautionary measures again I did not drive my car no further than my school which is four to five blocks. And I kept the car garaged most of the time. February 10, 2009 comes by; I’ve made an appointment with my uncle’s mechanic, who is the chief Nissan mechanic in a Union Nissan Dealership. I drove along 1&9 the check engine light along with the oil light were lit. Halfway to the destination the car turned off. I tried to restart the engine, the engine gave no feedback.
As I remembered the vehicles warranty that was posted on the window, I came to realize that during the day of purchase the warranty papers had been removed from the window, and was never given to me. Nevertheless I had the vehicle towed to the Jersey City Nissan dealership in defense that the dealer whom I bought it from once had the warranty papers on the window. The Nissan dealership did not honor the warranty, because of the modifications placed inside the engine. The warranty was voided. The repair would cost $11,600.

should have done your homework....N/A cars that have been turbocharged are usually not a good idea unless the car was built very well.

That's not a lemon. That's a poorly researched used car.

Good luck with the resolution.

As said above, not a lemon, just a beat piece of ****. If your mechanic told you about the engine being dismantled, did you honestly expect Nissan to honor a warranty?

Damn thats sucks. But like Terrasmak said, you didn't take it back after finding the problems? If I drove away from the dealer and all the lights came on, I would have taken it back that day & gotten a refund.

You waited 3 months?

Not a lemon. You didn't drive the car and check it out before buying it? LOL.

In some states you have 3 days that you can return the car in. I suggest do so.

I feel sorry for you man looks like your stuck with that car with all those problems because you didnt look over the car good. Now a bill for 11,600 is way to high looks like your going to have to fix the car on your own.You do have a 2006 witch might have a oil consumption problem.

who purchases a car without even sitting in it and playing with the features....sorry but its hard to feel sorry for someone that doesnt inspect something that expensive. you even had doubts in your head about how cheap the car was compared to others. the worst part, you noticed problems right after you left. why wait so long too try and handle the problem. as mentioned earlier i wouldve gone right back to the dealer...FAIL on your part

get a good lawyer cause its going to be a bumpy ride
