Default I found HEAVEN...Old Hwy 395 in San Diego

I pass by this road every day, never bothered to take it. Until today...

Wanna justify that monthly Z payment? Do this...

On the 15 going North, about 15 miles north of Escondido, exit Old Hwy 395 and turn right. There is a little road that runs parallel to the freeway. It is a mostly unused 2 lane road, about a 3 mile straightaway, slightly downhill. Made a couple runs, 3/4 throttle to 4000 RPM shifts. Hit 110 easily. The acceleration is phenomenal!!!

If you turn left at the exit, you will come across a huge *** downhill. More cars travel on this side, so be careful!! There are 2 left curves, punch the gas. The scene is breathtaking at speed. 75 will feel like 130, because there is nothing to your right but a 3 foot guardrail (hopefully) preventing you from a 300 foot fall.

This is the most fun I've had with my clothes on!!

That break-in can't come soon enough...

395 is absolutely gorgeous. It is one of the prettiest highways I've been on. I drove there from SD to Tahoe and it was awesome.

For those looking for a nice trip, it is best late winter/early spring when the mountains are still snow capped, weather is mild, and the roads driveable.

Oh yeah, the strip that runs parallel to the 15 around fallbrook, escondido area is fun.

But the 395 I'm talking about is the one that heads east of the Sierra's.... great for a break-in trip.

Also the drive up to the top of Mt. Palomar is awesome for twisties, and theres another road, less known, near there that I can show you.

Lets organize a drive out there in October sometime, once more peeps have their cars.

Thumbs up Room for one more

I agree, 395 is an awesome drive. The Ortega Highway 74 from Elsinore to Capistrano and back has some twisties as well. Any road, anytime, anyplace. You guys want to rally our Zs...I'm with you.
