Default Reverse starting in 6th gear 08 Z

Hey Guys,

So I gave my friend the OK to go drive my car down from the parking lot since I was still busy at a meeting and we're about to go to lunch... (bad idea)

He called me (after a half a dozen tries) he could not get the car to go in reverse. He basically started the car in 6th gear and had it die out a few times while trying to back up. (Giving gas in 6th gear)

Will this F**K my clutch trans? I told he to depress the shifter down but I guess he didnt understand what I meant... The car appears to drive fine but I hear some clicking sounds when i depress the clutch down now when I shift. Do u guys think this is OK? or I'm just paranoid...

you're just being paranoid. the clutch and transmission are just fine. the clicking you're hearing has probably always been there...the Z has lots of noises and creaks. better get used to them.

My friend did this too. He drives a mustang and just instinctually put it there as we stalled trying to back out of the driveway.

Car has been fine since.

You probably need a new transmission.

My one friend walked mine right up to the curb one night doing the same thing. He drive a mustang too and I forgot to remind him. Everything should be fine tranny wise. Takes more than that to mess somthing up.

i would never lend my car to someone that cant figure out how to put it in reverse!!! if he drives a mustang its a good excuse that last 2 sec or max 1 stall..... its not rocket science!

you're paranoid....and you're friend should be banned from the Z FOR LIFE....

when I went on vacation last year, asked a friend to take the Z to a shop to have some service done....SHE drives a cooper 5 speed, had no idea the clutch was different but still figured it out on her own after 2 tries...i was impressed!
