navigation system

Ive played around with a friends NAV, and they are neat gadgets to have. They are very helpful if you are prone to getting lost or travel frequently, and they add an impressive look to the dash of the car. If you like it, buy it... if not, pass on it and use the $2k on NISMO parts. For me the NAV wasn't an option so the decision was easy.

I think if you view (download) the Infinity G35 (2003) user manual for the Nav, it's the same as the Z.
Can an owner confirm this. Thanks

If you think of a nav as cool technology with awesome speech (from reading manuals), it is a must-have!
Also, it fills the empty space in the dash nicely.

I wanted the "fighter cockpit" look, with the incredible features AND hi-tech nav system with GPS, etc.
For me, I also want the driving instructions... even though I mostly know my way around Denver. The key there is mostly. I would love to be able to be anywhere in the US and simply ask my Z to direct me home. Also, there are many times I go to new places, such as computer stores, etc. I won't have to look up instructions any longer. My Z will guide me! Driving instructions are not just for cross-country road trips.
Hope this helps in any way,
Todd
Would you leave a $2,000 laptop DVD player sitting on the passenger seat alone in a dark parking lot? Mine will not have it and I will keep the cover opened when not attended so the bad guys know I don't have one to steal!

I figure, if they are going to steal your car, it is because of the Z itself. The nav system is just an added bonus.

If I am concerned though, I will close the door when I leave my Z unattended. They would have to break in to see if there is a nav system or not. Seeing is how less than 15% of the Z's made have nav, a door closed will in no way indicate that a nav system is present. In fact, chances are, it will not have one. (about an 85% chance to be exact)

Todd
My wife has a nav system on her Acura CL type-S and we did our honeymoon trip drive from PA to New Orleans and it was well worth all $2000. I have it on my Boxster S as well and I gotta tell you after you use it for a while, it's like having e-mail, you think what the heck did I do with out it. You can be cruising down the road, hit some bad traffic, browse down at the navi and see this little back road shortcut. You never get lost, sure print out mapquest or mapblast, then miss the turn - that mapblast piece of paper doesn't recalculate your route. I guarantee I have saved countless hours in travel time over someone that needs to backtrack, when my nav recalcs and takes me down the next exit, etc. How about your on a long interstate and your trying to figure our where you are and there hasn't been an exit sign for miles. Damn how far is that gas station or next food stop - the nav will tell ya.
I freak people out when I go visit, they ask where I am am, when will you get here, I look down, I am 23 minutes away, I am about and 1 hour and 20 minutes according to the nav (Traffic and your driving can change that but it really helps). The Mustang Cobra did not come with an option and I think I am gonna get one put in it.

On the same line as your points, I cannot wait to use the nav to locate ATM's.
Plus, the nav is outright cool,
Todd
