I just turned 18,000 miles with the same tranny, it was notchy and second did grind in very cold weather. As the car warmed up in a cold morning the problems got better as I shifted throught all gears. How with the morning cold again (32 degrees thursday morning) the tranny shifted smooth in all gears. Did a fast shift from 1st to second and no problems went in out came the clutch and the rear tires spun then grabbed. The clutch also is quiet in nuetral and pedal out. I also have my clutch pedal adjusted to my driving style. I have for years like the clutch to disengage about 1 inch from rest, my legs as I sit push the pedal to a point 2 inches from the floor. That way I just stomp the pedal to the extent of my leg, shift and release. makes for a short stroke and shift. Started doing this with my 1985 300ZX Turbo in 1985. The clutch and friction plate lasted for 110,000 miles.
