Honestly, are the 06' rev-ups that bad?

It's kind of a mixed bag. I bought an '06 rev-up a year and a half ago. In the first month, it burned almost 3 quarts of oil. The next three, it burned one quart. I took it in for the oil consumption test - failed - and got a new engine. I'm now burning ~1/4 quart every 5 months or so, which given my driving seems perfectly fine to me.
Your drive train warranty should cover five years or 60,000 miles I believe. Personally, I'd say go for it if you find a good deal, since if it's burning then you get a brand new engine anyway (assuming you can deal with the service time and break in time). Ymmv however, but my engine swap was fairly painless and it fixed my issue.

What I meant was that there is a large thread (101 pages) already in place dedicated to this discussion in the Engine & Drivetrain tech area

I have a 2006 mt that I got brand new (20 miles on it).I havent had a single problem with it after 25k miles. No OC.The clutch is perfect,no paint chipping,no rattles,no power window issues,18/24 average gas milage. Its a completely stock DD....Its actually a 2006.5 and that could be the difference.I have asked people on this forum in the past if anyone owns a 2006.5 that burns oil and Ive never gotten a anwser.

No issues with my 06 in the 7 months I have had it. Yes, many of them have consumption issues but it's not like the majority of them are lemons. Good luck with finding a quality Z.

In my last car I had to replace the engine twice because of oil problems. Now I check the oil almost every time I pump gas. Its a little over the top but better safe than slow

I have an 06 with 6mt and I love it. I have had no issues with my car at all. I have run the car 30+ times at the drag strip. I have drove it to the track and raced for 7 hours (20min on track, 40 min off) then drove 3 hours home. It doesnt burn oil and it still runs just as good as the day I brought it home from the dealership.

I ordered mine in Oct of 05 and received it in Jan of 06. I have never noticed any oil consumption issues! Knock on wood! I think my build date is Nov or Dec of of 05. I am reading some say 06.5's. But I would think that I have one of the earliest 06's and have never had any issues either. Each year seems to have some sort of trouble. Just look at it like this. They made good and bad in every year. I made sure when I ordered it I asked for it to be made on a Wed! All the Mon and Fri cars seem to be F****d up!!!!
