I've definitely noticed the same thing with 2006 models. The 2 '07's I've looked at in person so far were void of this problem. It seems to be an issue with the paint/coating material on the window switch panels and dash cubby hole release, and other surfaces with that same material. It seems to chip away quite severely anywhere that gets touched a lot.
I had the same thing happen with the radio surround trim on my sister's Mazda tribute. Popped the trim out, sanded, filled the chipped spots with primer and painted with Duplicolor interior dye/paint. That fix has remained perfect for months so I would suggest the same fix on the 2006 and any other Z's that see that problem.

i probably am one of the first to own an 06, bought mine back in late september 2005, the first batch that came off the truck, test drove it with like 8 miles on it. but now i have 33k and only issue was driver side window, i love this car, and with my mods it makes it even better, nothing wrong with getting an 06 to the OP

My apologies if this question has already been discussed (new to Z forum, member of G forums)... I have an 05 G35 with OC issues. My local dealship has been great, and as a result I have a 55k mile car with a new engine as of yesterday.
My question is for those of you who own 05-06 vehicles with NO Oil Consumption who have owned their cars from the beginning, such as you Sir Captain... How did you break in your engine? Drive it like you stole it, or soft and easy like the dealership recommends? I have a short period of time to decide how to break the new engine in and I know that everyone has their own opinions. I'm hoping that if I do this right, I won't have OC issues moving forward.
Any info helps! THANKS in advance!

I have a 2006 mt that I got brand new (20 miles on it).I havent had a single problem with it after 25k miles.No OC.The clutch is perfect,no paint chipping,no rattles,no power window issues,18/24 average gas milage.Its a completely stock DD....Its actually a 2006.5 and that could be the difference.I have asked people on this forum in the past if anyone owns a 2006.5 that burns oil and Ive never gotten a anwser.

I havent had any oil consumption issues and I've had the dealership do their oil consumption test...I figure if the vehicle is under warranty still then if by chance you do have oil consumption, the dealer will most likely cover it.

No problems here either. 06 bought in 12/05 brand new. Pushing 60k miles, very avid auto-xer, doesn't burn any noticable amounts of oil.

Plus the whole issue with the concentric slave cylinder has me a little worried about the 07. I run pretty heavy aftermarket clutches in all my cars and it looks like it won't hold up to that, and warranty isn't going to cover it after I put a clutch in. I've got no problem jacking the car up, popping off a regular external slave, and fixing it... but there's no way I'm gonna put up with dropping my transmission every time the CSC pops because of my aftermarket clutch.
