windows busted out on z; alarm didn't go off
Why didn't the nissan alarm go off when my windows (all 4) were busted in??? Is this a defect and if so what could I do to nissan?
I have a base model but I thought they all had the same alarm

I don't think the alarm goes off for windows being busted. If I am not mistaken, the alarm only goes off, if the doors are opened.
I don't believe the stock alarm has shock sensors. I am quite certain of that.

Just get a proximity alarm installed on your Z. Viper alarms are all upgradle to them for around 100 bucks. If anyone comes within 2 feet of your car, it will give off a short beep. This way, no one can even deliberate about vandalizing your car without alerting the attention of fellow Z owners in the area...

I was quoted a top of the line Viper with the illumination remote display and was quoted $599 installed. I asked about window locks and trunk release, and proximity sensros, and they quoted me a total price of $900.
This is the top of the line Viper that retails for $599 installed. Why the extra $300. Doens't that come with the top of the line.
It also has remote start but they said they can't hook it up legally to my 6spd.
Thoughts?

My thoughts are that that installer/shop is pitching a Viper system that has more frills than you need and is not discounted at all. I had a Viper system on my 2001 Firebird that had shock sensors, keyless entry/trunk release for $399 installed. They quoted me another $150 for the proximity feature installed. But, the shop where I got it done is known for charging the max they can, but does good work. Just go on a couple websites that sell VIper systems and pick out one that best suits your needs. If you go to a local shop, they are always going to pitch the highest model out there and never show you the list of available systems along with their correct prices.
To be honest with you...NO BS...My mom's $69 WASP brand security system worked as good if not better than my $399 Viper system. She got her's installed at Best Buy for like $50 bucks....lol. Viper in general is overpriced due to all the money they spend on advertising.
