Need Respected Opinions
Basically this is the story
1. I Bought 08 base z and hated it beyond belief somehow
2. Traded it back for an impreza
3. Fell asleep and hit a guardrail on a back road cuz I did 8hrs of working and then 8hrs of partying and thought I could make it home... lesson learned, thank you
4. Need a car and want to get another z (03 touring 60k or less) but I'm worried I might loose my job. I am thinking about also getting a mint 240 with 95k on it. That may be a better decision and I should just go back to school and get my bachelors
I respect your opinions for the most part, and need some advice on this one. My gut is saying school and 240 but my heart is saying z... then again when I get out I can just buy an 06... probably be the same price.
the z isn't too expensive ... I mean 15k at most after tax isn't bad but I'm worried about it on insurance after totaling a car and the gas compared to the 240.

SCHOOL! That will be the response most said on this subject. If you think you can do both easily I say do that but if not then definately school and the 240. The 240 in itself would be a great project car and fun to work on and a little bit cheaper to do so while in school. But imo do the school.
Oh and am glad you are ok after wreck.

Get any beater you can find for a good deal. Go back to school.
When I was going to school I had to make sacrifices to support myself (Rent, Food, Tuition, etc). Went from a Celica GT-S to a Focus to an Integra. Had to keep downgrading because I needed money to pay for each semester.

Buy something reliable that you can mod and finish school.
Or look for a better paying job that has long-term growth potential.
You can always get a Z or similar vehicle when you get your finances in order.

hmmm.... let's not go there (traded an 03track for a yaris... please shoot me) I had a z and loved the 03 so much. The hr engine was nice but the car felt like it was floating on air... not my cup of tea.
Well after the accident and having a loan I don't have much money... basically i would have to finance most of the z... if i had 10k it would be no problem and I'm not going back to school till 2010 even with the 240.
the reason car and school are in the same sentence is because if a 240 means $80 a month and a z means $160 a month in gas it matters. If I go back to school I'm not going to be making more than $800 a month if I'm lucky. (still owe 5k from first 2 years of college)
If I get the 240 it'll be dropped, wheels, turbo, ect... if I get the Z I may be able to afford coilovers and wheels and a decent lip.

i think you got your priorities all out of wack, if your focusing on school and cant afford much (800 a month) the Z is not for you right now...stuff goes wrong and even if you had low payments and low insurance, what if you needed tires? or a part fails thats not under warranty (being an 03 your looking at most likely doesnt have a warranty) these are all things you must work into your choice, but id say buy a beater, go to school, finish, then get a good job, and get what you want
wondering what your age is also

first off, how much of the z will you finance. if you have a payment of lets say $300 per month. Your have $500 left for insurance, rent, food, and recreation. Dont know where you live, but you probably will pay at least $100 for full coverage insurance, providing the insurance company does not raise your premiums. So you have $400 per month left for rent, food, gas, utilities, cell, phone, internert, cable, or whatever else your bills are. You have to add those and see where you will be at.
Also with school, what about your school loans? will you need to borrow more money to continue school?
Lots of questions.

for starters I'm 21 and I'll be 22 in a august. Live at home, pay my part of insurance even though I'm on my parents plan. Only thing I get for free is laundry, food, and a place to sleep. I'm expecting to pay about $250 a month w/ the z, about $400 on bills. then gas and food is like $200-$300 a month. I make, right now, about 1.5-2k a month (after tax) depending on how much overtime I do. I can afford a z on this job no problem and even buy a winter beater. It's just if I can go back to school with the z in a year.
