Default Roadtrip??????

check it out...before i bought my z, i drove a 2001 Acura MDX. (350z - my 1st sports car) and I quickly realized that the z is way different car(Better!!!), one thing i know for sure that the car is not really weather friendly,it handles and rides different than any other car i ever driven in my life... soooo

i wanted to take a trip from the bayarea to portland Oregon, I have driven up there 5 times before about 11 hr drive... Im trying to figure out if i should take the Z this time?? if anyone ever took their car on a long drive give me some advice,

i dont know, my gut just tells me its not a good idea....

There's really no advice needed. Your Z looks stock, it should handle the terrain just fine. Just make sure your spare tire is up to shape and all your spare tire tools are there incase you get a flat.

You should be fine, unless your car is slammed and tucked

no my car is in mint condition... runs fine ALL STOCK except smoked lights 21K mi. I bought an intake system off ebay though, K&N typhoon carb legal intake and im planning on putting than on before i leave...

Im not really worrying about tires(i already have spare n all da tools), since i only had the car for 3 weeks, i havent been able to get to know the car that well, i dont know if i should take it a little easy on the trip or what? last time when i took my other car, i didnt really stop at all just got gas and just drove for straight 10 hrs. I havent taken my Z out for a long drive yet, just around town, but i know im not gonna abuse my z for straight 10hrs, i love that car too much.

Maybe i should drive for two days instead of one??? stop halfway and rest the night??

Nor sure why this is a regular subject. The 350Z is definitely snow unfriendly. Other than that a great performer rain or shine.

Mine has run fine in hot weather, I've driven it 3 1/2 hours from home to college and vice versa in triple digits with no problems at all.

I drove about 5600km from alberta to new brunswick and I took nothing but myself and the car and money of course 11 hours you should be fine. 11 hours you can drive no problem I drove my 02 civic 27 straight (lol dont ask lots of energy drink I wanted out of the states I had no american money) i drove the z 17 hours straight at one point when i came home.

I make a trip to see my siblings twice a year. The trip is 480 miles up the east coast to NH from Maryland. I stop once for gas and enjoy the entire ride. I have a bad back but never feel the need to get out of the car although I do feel a little stiff immediately after I get out of the car but within a half hour I feel fine. Maybe 11 hours would be pushing it.

I've driven that stretch of I-5 many times and the last couple in the Z. Beautiful car for road trips. You'll need to stop and stretch between fill ups as the cars range means you'll only need one stop for gas (twice I've done 500 miles on a single tank). It is comfortable, but the tight leg quarters don't leave much for altering your leg's positions.

There is plenty of room if you pack with stuff sacks, use a narrow tall cooler made by rubbermaid that fits between the back strut bar and the seat, and I recommend the accessory made by Nissan for the Z's passenger seat back. It will hold a lot of stuff that you can access without having to pull over.
Bon Voyage.

I think the car will have no problem handling the trip mechanically. The driver may get tired of limited movement after awhile. 2 hours is about my limit in the Z.
I just did 16 in the Titan, one way. I was glad to have a bench seat for plenty of leg room. I think I would get DVT in the Z if I drove that long.

Haha after two hours I am barely getting started on my drives. I frequently have to make 6 hour drives to get home, and sometimes that drive is longer with LA traffic. I am completely fine, except for a lack of cruise control that makes my right knee a bit stiff (im 6'0")

If your Z is in excellent shape, then you might want to buy a bumber cover like the blue Z in the picture. The long drive might put a lot of rock chips on your car.
