I've got two kids, 1.5 and 4. They're both old enough to be in forward facing seats. If you need a rearward facing seat, and you don't want to get rid of the Z, you NEED to get a kill switch for the airbag. However, there is a significant amount of evidance to show that if you have forward facing seats (generally 1 year and up) and you take the time to correctly restrain the child, you'll be fine without the kill switch. There is a lot of additional info in this thread from earlier this year: https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....threadid=24116

Your only dilemma will be what to do for the first year or so. Is the Z your only car?

Default disconnect airbag fuse

my 2 yr old daughter loves my z because she can see me and out the front of the car much easier than my wifes honda oddssey. I will never regret getting the z because if I traded it in for a g35 my daughter would have to sit in the back seat.

z ---5 star safety rating is all I have to say

solution, I just pop out the airbag fuse whenever we go out, of course I will be getting the proper switch when I have time...

You'll be fine. No worries. I'm sure you'll be able to fit everything you need in the Z. I will say, it will probably take some practice on the loading process till you get it just right but you'll figure it out. Congrats on the pregnancy. Your life will never be the same (mostly in a good way though)

do like I did and get a cheap 4-door that you could pay cash for and keep the Z for when you can get a sitter.

Congrats on the child and keep your Z. Just install an airbag defeat switch. Get a form from DOT and fill it out. An earlier post had the web site. Then take it to the dealer and get them to order the harness from Nissan. My original dealer would not
install it, but another one would. Actually to cut costs, I installed the harness in the interior except for plugging it in. I then took it to the dealer and paid him an hour labor to plug it in, check the system and sign the DOT paperwork. Hope this helps.

BTW he loves being in the front seat with just his daddy.
Does anyone know the typical excursion of the airbag? Obviously, it doesn't go all the way to the seatback, but how far into the passenger space does it stretch? The reason I ask is the physics of a front-end collision,

If the child is in the booster, their neck will be snapped forward at the point of maximum inertia (where the car has decelerate but the humans inside are still moving forward). Airbags are designed to reach maximum pressure at precisely this second, so his head will be well forward of his seating position and he'll be smashed in the face by the airbag. Do I have that right?

Well its been awhile since I have posted. I still have the Z but my husband drives it now. I have an 04 Jeep cherokee. Of course its not the Z, but that was not the best car for a baby.
