RX8 = no room to move

i drove one once and i could barely shift gears...

plus with the Z occasionally you'll get the 'is that a porsche' comment...that should satisfy your german side

hmmm... in my opinion after reading the OP's post, and comments; with all your other cars, I say go with the Z. Ive had excellent luck with my 2004.5, best car Ive ever owned, and fun to boot. I came from owning preludes back to back, so the torque with the Z was greeted quite warmly upon test drive. I have not driven an Rx, but from what I hear about lack of tq, been there, done that, not interested. Nothing like ripping up a mtn pass in the Z in 6th gear.

well personally japanese cars dont have the percision that german cars have. im just one of those people that really pays attention to detail, and wheni do sit and compare the two the differances are ridiculous. eg: the window buttons on german cars are so perfect and smooth to where japanese cars have plastic buttons that belong on kids toys

Plain and simple get the Z if you have the time and money to be putting into those bugs
that will work out great if instead you throw it into a Z

love my Z

i used to have a stg 3 kinetics turbo 97 mk3 vr6 jetta with all the bells and whistles. it would eat just about any car on the road and make z's look like they were parked when they were flooring it. but honestly no matter how fast or good looking it was slammed on koni's it was extremely unreliable. id replace something broken on it with a brand new part, and it would still be broken....like wtf only the vdub does that. my friends are pretty divided, i have friends with r32's and boosted 1.8t's and i have friends with 350z's and my friends with the z's are never in the shop and are satisfied with their cars. people in the dub club are never satisfied and always need to go faster! i have a vr6 with bolt ons right now as my daily but i plan on switching it to a z in the near future with a warranty. one can be had for 17,000

Both cars are great choices, but I have drove the Rx8 and it is only fun above 6K rpms. If you were considering a Rotary I would look at some '92 on up Rx-7's (got turbos). Rotaries tend to have higher tune/maint fees over the Z. Gas mileage on the Z is pretty good compared to the Rx8. The Z has plenty of torque, power, handling and reliability to keep you satisfied till you get ready to mod it.
