Default So Im a jackass...

Ive been real busy and stressed out with work lately and havent been getting alot of sleep right? Well last week I just put on some new parts and Tuesday night my buddy came over and was checking everything our... well for some reason I didnt latch the hood fully so the next day when I wake up Im running late and just haul *** with it on the safety latch....Not even two miles from the house, seconds after getting the car up to 60 the hood SLAMS up to the ****ing windshield!! Now Im panicing because Im on a small two lane road with big drop offs no shoulder so I had to peak in the narrow gap from under the hood to the bottom of windshield to pull over in a driveway! I get out to peel my fiberglass Stillen power hood off the windshield/roof! It splintered the **** outa my hood, pealed back the top tips of both fenders like a sardine can, and dented the **** outa my roof! The roof being ****ed up is the worst part of it all! I could give a **** about having the hood and fenders replaced but the roof is going to be hard to get right especially since my roof is Dynamated. The sheet metal is going to be harder to work with two layers of Dynamat... All because I didnt latch the damn hood. Like the thread caption says....What a jackass!

The only plus so far is that the insurance company is paying me direct $3700 plus more if the body shop finds more damage underneath parts they remove (fenders). Im hoping that will be enough to get Seibon cf fenders vs stock, replace my Still en hood, and get a Stillen type II bumper as a bonus... we'll see how much they say to fix roof/paint/install parts will be...

Good opportunity to make some new mods on the insurance company's dime.

Ive done this with my carbon fiber hood. I was going pretty fast and when I reached my destination I saw that it wasnt fully latch. Thank god my hood didnt fly off.

Carbonfiber, fiberglass...don't these hoods require pins? Without pins, they just rip open and damage the rest of the car.

No wonder insurance costs are so high.

That sucks man. My buddy had a 91 Integra and was so proud of himself because he put in hood pins all by himself (which required some custom fabrication)...So....he decided to drive over to his friends house and show off his handy work. As he got onto the freeway, he was quickly reminded that he didnt put the pins back into the slots and....BAM!!!!...His windshield honestly looked something like this...

Moral of the story....Make sure your (insert male ego synonym here) doesnt get in the way of going thru your check list before you jump on the highway!!!
