Default Anyone else feel like they rarely put the Z to work?

My Z is my DD so maybe thats why I just drive it casually a lot but, I feel like I never get on it past 1/4 to 1/2 throttle. I may drive 60- 70 a lot but even in my rural area I never do it since I got a 61 in a 50 from a trooper. I feel like I love my car to death but i dont enjoy the damn motor or handling. Sure I drive an automatic, but ever since I got exhaust I like to shift it myself for optimal sound of shifting with an automatic. I do downshift for on and off ramps and nice curvs but never mash the throttle. I understand the consequences of driving like an "***" but obviously were not in a civic struggling to get up there... We get up in speed fast as hell and we dont need much room. I just hate that if im on some rural back round like in my town and I know its a mile long straight... I cant really nail the gas pedal and go nuts knowing no cars are on the road, sure deer but I'm taking a chance. I know some will say take it to the track, well I dont wanna beat my car up, I just wanna enjoy it reasonably and make it do what it was made to do. Anyone else agree?

Mine is a DD as well, I live in a metro area and rarely get out of it myself. 0-65 getting on the highways is about the extent of using the motor. However, I love the corners and there are lots of them in the city.

Try to find an auto cross, you'll have a blast. I auto crossed her the first year and really learned a lot about how to handle her.

Try one of 2 things.

1. Go to a few auto cross events and let her loose.
Big smiles to be had there

2. Start racing shifter carts and realize how SLOW your car really is.
Kinda ruins the fun of any street car.

You could take everybody's advice and find a place to test yourself & the Z or, cry because you don't have it in you to have some fun, while endangering nobody else.

its your dd, you don't track it, and you don't drive like an asshat.

I don't get it. you can track it, it's not going to beat it up. you can sell it and buy something boring since you don't seem to care about the power? you can keep driving it and not care if you don't push it hard? whats the issue again?

You drive an auto Z and dont like to hit it WOT-makes sense to me lol.

You sound like a pu$$-and thats cool cuz you wont likely have problems with your Z like the guys who beat their cars like they owe them money. Different strokes for different folks.

The part about you not liking the motor or handling was...

I've never run the RPMs past about 5000.

I usually shift at around 3000, and I haven't broken 90 mph yet.

16 months ownership/18,200 miles.

I'm in the same boat sort of- I don't know what to really tell you, except it sucks. I bought it with the intention of autocrossing it over the summer, but unfortunately my schedule didn't permit it this year. Like everyone else is saying, AutoXing is your best option for having some fun with it. I agree that watching the miles pile on is agonizing when you know you're not pushing it!

I'd personally buy a more lux car if I didn't want to push it now and then. the Z is far from the most comfortable ride I've been in, and the features are lacking. I can think of a lot of better options in the same price range :P

WTF!! Not being a d!ck but then why did you buy a sports car?

I banged limiter, powershifted, and redlined 4th gear (112mph) on the TEST DRIVE! LMAO

There is nothing like the sound of a turbo 350z winding up to around 7000 rpm you should try it sometime

high speed sweeper, braking perfectly into it , hitting the apex perfect, the driving by the more expensive/faster sportscar while almost hitting the limiter in every gear.

TRACKDAYS ROCK
