Just got my v3 sides in !! Are all these parts necessary? Where the hell does the seal go?? A bit over whelmed haha anyone with some experience on this please feel free to pm.
Went to Boston for a few days for friends' kid grad from Berklee. All I thought about the entire weekend was getting back to put muh new shooz on da cah. Wife says "I know it's your fun time but isn't visiting a new town just as fun?"
"Ehhh, it's OK."
Rolls eyes and shakes head. (But still laffs at my obsessive-compulsive behavior, thankfully.)
Installed "new" INEX Type BA * wheels.
Before:
After:
Mandatory Wheel specs: 19x8.5 +27F/19x9.5 +24R Mandatory Tire specs: 245/35-19F, 275/35-19R / Bridgestone S-04 Pole Position
Pretty conservative setup but at least it sits the way I like it.... not too aggressive so as to attract attention and possibly require rear roll. (Total purist here.)
No testing on them yet. It'll be a while breaking them in.
Before: "Hella tuck, yo."
After: "Not HellaToiletFlush" but the way I like it. +9mm inboard, +21mm outboard additional rubber width.
* Special Note: Please note that this so called "INEX Type BA" wheel set is also known as "Volk GT-C". I call 'em INEX cuz it was an "INEXpensive set of Boat Anchors". Seriously, I could probably keep the Queen Mary from moving in deep water with these, they're so damm heavy.
Also, take a look at the difference in lug fit front and rear..... (that which I was whining about last week):
Rears - with conical seat near wheel face:
Oh, and yes, wheel caps on the way. (Admission of GUILT: An inexpensive solution, not gen-u-whine Volk. Sorry, can't see spending $170+ for dust caps!!) And... thank you in advance for NOT mentioning the stupid valve stems the shop put on. Fehhhhhh.... I already ranted on what a f'd up job they did and this was not worth my waiting around for them to fix.
Guess I'm not THAT much of a purist.....
Fronts - with conical seat waaaay down in the lug hole. Very bizarre set-up:
These are the dang "GT-C specific" inverse (shanked) lug nuts by Rays that are apparently made of ubobtainium.... which made my wheels not as cheap as originally planned. $140 lug nuts..... PSH. (Be forewarned if someone is selling a set of these wheels WITHOUT LUG NUTS!!)
All in all, fun new shooz but pretty sure they'll be coming off. Not that crazy about the look but I'll live with 'em for a while.
Cheers,
Mic
Sidenote: While in Boston, saw just ONE Z... a nice Daytona Blue Track version. All stock appearing. Clean. And we were out and about all over Bawwwston!
I got my Z a few weeks ago. Since then I've been working on the console to house the Pioneer X7700bt. As it turns out, I made a scratch about 3/4" on the face of the console, and there were other scratches in the rubber, so I went for the whole paint deal.
Sanding, painting, more sanding, more painting, then trying textured paint.
Clearly, I have some work to do, but I thought a few might be interested.
Now I have a cubby under the HU, a full screen, and it can fold down to show the cubby that I'm putting my GPS in. After this, besides suspension mods, I'm looking for a sub amp and speaker.
I'm coming from rock crawlers... This isn't much different.

Well, with a Z you can crawl UNDER the rocks versus over them.

Gentlemen (and I use the term loosely), glad to note that you are enjoying yourselves at my humble expense but please to allow me to set the record straight rightchere....
I was working for Nissan (nee Datsun) and racing a high window SRL 311 (with no windscreen) when Mister Lovin was borned.
That makes me a *wee* bit older than the age stated on Mister Lovin's DL.
Besides, no one made a bowl large enough for my haircuts when I was a kid.
I now use a colander.
And no, this is NOT racist or even an ethnic thing. To wit:
So you see, I prefer to consider it self-defeca... er, I mean self deprecation.
OK, now that I've thoroughly derailed/hijacked the thread with my nonsense, the honorable thing to do is to try and bring it back on topic.
You may recall (prolly not) that a few posts above, I posted what I did to a Z that day. I put some INEX-Type BA wheels on it. In said post, I remarked that there is no way in he*l that I'm spending $170+ on a set of gen-u-whine Volk wheel caps and that I've got a cheaper solution....
"Mic's a poseur!!! A bloody no good poseur!!!"
Now ask me if I care. My $12 eBay solution saves $158 I would've spent on an item no one sees nor cares about and adds ZERO performance; and now perhaps I will spend that on something else for one of my cars. Maybe it's time to buy something for my sad daily driver (that hasn't been daily driven in months) Volvo that lives outdoors!

No worries, brah, totally CHtongueEEK.
If any haters don't "get" me, I sum it up thusly:
"Enjoyin' my life, enjoyin' my wife.
Even when I work, there's nary a smirk.
Cuz I just don't have time for that quirk.
And on top of all that,
Enjoyin' my Zs, cuz that's where it's at."
