Brake motive cross drilled and slotted black

Since I primarily street drive I am not too concerned about stress cracks since I read a lot of good stuff from people using this in the corvette forums

In terms of aesthetics they look better the holes and slots stay black and the outer drum stays black versus blank rotors where the outer drum eventually starts rusting and looks orange...

Performance wise it's hard to tell a difference I just installed it yesterday but it seems like it's doing its job I read online you'll notice at the most 9 feet braking distance in difference

I hear they are good in the rain primarily because water chafes off the rotor quickly versus blank rotors so if you try to brake in the rain it might be harder to grip

Quick word for those who like clean cars.
My rotors warped bc I'd wash the Z right after getting home. Now I let them cool 30 minutes.

Not a huge deal, but it just irks the f*ck out of me walking up to my car. That and I always look at curbed wheels as a sign of negligent drivers, which I'm not.

Saw these locally and had to snag them. Guy put some nice TE37 reps on his Z and I assume these were sitting around. A little dirty which is to be expected, but for $300 I couldn't beat 'em.

Dear lawd!! They look mint!!

Changed spark plugs and did a compression test for peace of mind.

Snapped one of the 10mm bolts holding in the coilpacks while putting it back in. Had to weld on a nut just to get the remaining stud out. Turned a 30 minute job into a 3 hour hassle. Will put the car back together tomorrow, that's enough frustration for a day

Took the Z out for an evening cruise around town with my youngest son. He loves to ride. Also, he has an eye for cars and can spot something interesting from far away. On our way home, he saw a rat rod and really wants one. I should have kept that 260Z and turned that into a rat rod.

Default What have you done for your Z today?

Black HID headlight housing project....

I have a college degree
Consider myself to a be wrencher

By far the Hardest f#cking mechanical thing I've EVER DONE in my life.

Spent 8 hrs on one headlight, not even done putting back the electrical yet.

However, the labor of love is well worth it. I totally get why it would cost $500-$1200 to get this done.

Another of the mysteries I can't figure out... what is the point of a black headlight? Same as the "I tinted my taillights" thing. Why?

Also, though it may seem like a minor detail, it makes a huge difference.

Holy cow.
With removing the front bumper, and having to put them in the oven for 8 minutes. SO much work for a look.
Depends on the color, tho. I saw a Chrome Silver w black-out lights, and it was
amazing...
