Trouble shooting today with the rear of the car. After 3-4 minutes of driving, the rear of the car begins to pulsate. It gets faster with speed and gets worse as you continue driving. Large amount of heat radiating from the right rear wheel and a smell to go along with it.

Decided it was a brake issue (seized caliper I believe). Going to do a full replacement and hope I'm right

New bumper installed. I'd give fitment 7/10 (vis racing) but I got it for $300 shipped... can't really complain. I'm sure I'll have fun wrapping it tonight...

While you have it all torn down, check your rear wheel bearings.

Yew Rope.

Will post about it in The Lounge one day.

To sum it up though (from a related automotive perspective only).... I return to the USA with a newfound respect for drivers, cars, and transportation infrastructure over on the Continent. Worlds of difference and the US would do well to emulate some of the things I experienced whilst there.

And just to keep it on topic...

The ONE Z I saw in five countries.

Had a seized rear caliper that took out my pads and rotor on the rear. Figured it was a good time to upgrade my rear brakes to match my front Akebonos.

Now my inner barrel valve stem hits the caliper. One more week of the car being down til I can get those in. And then I can actually see if my diagnosis was correct.

That was the first thing I checked. Zero play (wobble) in it - hopefully I'm right.

I drove down to get my Z a friend to sit in the driveway with, unfortunately it turned out to be good from far and far from good... I asked a bunch of questions before even looking at it but the seller didnt disclosure the problems... Apparently a mint top is one with rips in it, and no check engine light on because its a service engine soon light... Had a code for crankshaft position sensor... He said it had a aftermarket exhaust didn't know what brand... Get their and its got a muffler deleted...

Minor paint chips in the front bumper = a ugly grill, with scratched up not well fitting front bumper... Other good things I noticed... Moldy carpet, seat motor broken, door handle with 2 metal screws holding it on passenger side. Rear deck looked like edward scissor hands detailed it after he was finished with the interior... Door panels falling off, missing some little pieces... And the car shut off after sitting idle for about 10 minutes... Sadly it was a no go, but it made me feel better about the one sitting in the driveway.

It was going to be for my wife though so im a little bummed it wasnt in better condition, she was excited about having a little convertible sports car... But she agreed it wasnt worth the hassle, or the $9500 asking price... We were going to do $8000 and the owner keeps the 20s but that seemed like more then it was worth once we actually checked it out in person.

That was a 4 hour venture of today...

That sucks. I wonder why people lie about condition of a car? Do they really think you'll get there and not notice how messed up it is? I drove 3 hours one way once to look at a car. Was told the car had never been wrecked. As soon as I start driving, I could tell it had problems. Popped the hood and could tell it had been repainted. My wife looks in the glove box and finds receipts from the body shop where the car had $7500 damage to the front end. Then the guy couldn't understand why I was so mad knowing I came from 3 hours away to look at junk he assured me over the phone was straight as an arrow.

When I was looking for a Z the first one I test drove was okay. Condition was decent and the guy let me take it out by myself. On the seat I saw paperwork from the IRS stating he owed a lot of money.

I went back and offered cash but then he told me it was salvage title. I walked away.

Yeah it sucked, dont know why people are not up front about things it makes the process so much more pleasant.

When I got my element the girl was up front and told me about all the problems, I gave her an offer she accepted... Easy peasy.

O well some people just suck.

Wrapped my roof today. Took me around 3 hours or so. It's not perfect but I'm happy with it.

Changed the rear brake pads today. It was the first time I've ever done it on any car...always was a little fearful to mess with brakes but after watching several videos and researching on this website realized it was pretty simple...messy...but simple. I gained so much confidence from it i'm doing both front and rear brake pads on our Rogue next weekend. :thumb up:
