Default 350Z HID Headlights stolen!?!?

I just mentioned to my mechanic that I was getting a Z this month. The first thing he said after "cool" is "Man, be carefull, those headlights are stolen alot." He also mentioned that they could steal the lights right off the car without opening the car or setting off the alarm. But he wasn;t sure about the Z specifically.

I think he may mean HID in general, not necessarily a Z. I did see a thing on this on TV once. They were stealing some japanese HID headlights and this one guy had his stolen like 3 times!

I did a little searching on the net, and I think the most stolen headlights were the Maximas.

Anyway, has anyone ever had the Z headlights stolen?

I am guessing (hoping) that the Z headlights aren't too desirable since they would be hard to put on any other car due to the unique swept shape.

Just wondering what you guys all thought.

I know the 02/03 Maximas and 02/03 TLS's havea problem in NYC and Jersey area with high theft of HID's, but I havent heard anything on the 350. The problems mainly seem to occur in that region.

You can't take the headlights off without opening the hood.

I haven't heard anything about the headlights, but I have been told about people having problems with attempted door handle thefts.

well crowbar kinda hurts the purpose, if they wanted to just mess up the car, much better things could be done with a crow bar.

if all they want is the HIDs...they can just pry the headlights out and then unhook the bulb and everything and run away
