Oh god!

They butchered it D:

Please, for the sake of decentsy, watch Initial D with subtitles.
It's such an awesome anime, i hate to see it ruined by cheesy dubbing.

Yeah, Tokyo Pop must die. Those bastards not only dubbed it poorly, but they "Americanized" the names and threw out all the old music. Takumi is now Tak. How lame is that?

I don't know about you, but when I pop in the Initial D soundtrack, late into the evening, turn it up and drive my Z, it causes me to drive very very very fast.

LOL yes! the soundtrack is awesome, have you guys seen/downloaded Battlestage? Basically, its all the races from the first and second series and movie combined into one, with some of the best Europop music I've ever heard.

I highly recommend you guys check it out.

You can find it on kazaa, just search for Initial D and it will probably show up.

350Ztar, just go to your local Chinese music/video store and you'll find the entire series. It's a pirated dub out of HK. The translations can be atrocious at times, but if you don't mind that, it'll do very nicely.

FYI...

Tokyo Pop has the rights to the Initial D anime series. They are in the process of redubbing and changing out all the music for the anime. They are the geniuses that made the brillant decision to change the names as well and edit out references to some "naughty" stuff (I'm guessing the old man in the Mercedes, Mogi's ex).

The entire series (10 discs I believe) was released a long time ago. You can still buy them on Ebay. If you watch the original Japanese with subtitles the new release or old release are going to be almost the same. The new releases have some features like picking your own shot and some different music.

I'd say definitely stay true to the old school and stick it to Tokyo Pop, those sell out mudda Fockers.

The movie (Initial-D 3rd Stage) Came out in 2001 in japan and basically follows what happened at the end of the 2nd season.
I dont think tokyopop brought it over yet?

Man I could do without the really bad cg bits. It really would have been cooler if everything was 2d animated.

I know what you're talking about Deluded but I find that you kind of 'get into it' after a bit. Flipping between the traditional and the 3d takes some getting used to.

The CG animation only improves!

In the movie where he battles the MR2 and the Evo again - wow. the CG was excellent.
