When I took delivery of my car, the mechanic noted that the front suspension (which as we all know is being used on several cars) actually was designed to accept a drive shaft to the front wheels. Maybe that is for the GTR.

 

Actually I just read an article on line that mentioned that as well. I forget the website unfortunately. I am a bit obsessed with this car and the obsession gets worse every day. I hit every random website I can (using a general search) thinking I am going to find something new. This was the last new thing I read about. Chrome Silver Enthusiast package 6sp.

 

Sport Compact Car magazine said the same thing when they had the car on the lift they said and I quote "Then again, maybe it's for torque steer. The front upright and wheel bearing both appear to be designed to accommodate a driveshaft for future all-wheel-drive applicatons. GT-R, anyone?" On using a spplit lower control arm made of two seperate ball joints.

No, it's definitely for AWD.

Nissan Stagea in Japan uses 350Z platform and already has an AWD option. It uses the same system as the upcoming GTR. Power take off from transmission forward. So basically all the pieces are in place for the next GTR to be hatched.

I hope it's soon.

This also means that AWD will be relatively easy to retrofit onto a 350Z. Just wait for the first wrecked GTR and you're good to go.
