30 MPG in a 350Z?????
^very true and at the same time when i was stock my mpg thing would say like 27-28 on flat stretches of freeway. and then when i first got my injen intake and motordyne 5/16 spacer it was saying 30-32
I commute to work 50 miles everyday one way, and it is majority highway millage [about 40 miles worth]. I get about 430~440 miles. I warm the car about 1~2 minutes, and do not go over 3000rpm until the engine is well warmed up. Every time i fill her up, i usually fill the tank with 18~18.5 gallons consistently..Speeds vary from 69~77 mph depending on the time of the month :P Z tells me i get 23.5 MPG, and she is pretty much right
.. I knew from the beginnin not to care about it, but i watch it to see how it does once a while

you can both have fun (sometimes) and be concerned with gas mileage too. I bet you I can both get over 20 MPG and have fun at the same time! with your theory about priuses, everyone should either own a Bugatti or a Prius. Bad theory.
Have just realised here in New Zealand we are used to UK gallons which are larger than US gallons, although we changed from imperial to metric units over 30 years ago.
Most I have put in is 72.23 litres which is 15.89 UK gallons or 19.08 US gallons. Tank capacity is 76 litres or 20 US gallons.
So in US gallons I average just over 23 mpg but have achieved 27 mpg (US) on the last two trips (1000kms).

I get 28-29 mpg on long road trips. Computer in car shows 31-32. I can get 520 miles on 18 gallons. This is using redline 5-30w motor oil. Using mobile 1 I get about 27 mpg. And using castrol syntec i get about 26 mpg. My car has an AEM oil less air filter, Injen cold air intake, long tube headers, no cats!, and Dual Borla stainless exhaust.
For me, I usually get about 29 mpg when I'm on the freeway going about 70, and maybe 19 in the city. Heck of alot better than my girlfriends G6 Hardtop Convertible, only gets 25 on freeway and 16 in the city
and is somewhat gutless...
I drove down to the coast (near Corpus Christi, TX) over the weekend and back (8 hrs round trip) and the car was getting ~24-25mpg on the highway. This seemed odd to me as I usually get closer to 30mpg on the highway... I suspected the air filters were overlooked when I had the car into the dealer last month for the ~21500k service. So yesterday I drove around and finally found a store carrying filters for my '07, a pair of wick filters (~10 each) later and I am back to ~29mpg on the highway.
Something I noticed were several leaves made their way into the airboxes, I recommend popping out the air filters for a quick inspection and cleaning of loose debris.

I got 32.6 mpg when I was moving across country. Girlfriend was driving, (probably why). She was stuck behind me the whole time in a moving truck, so she could only do 65-70 mph. I checked the mpg average and was shocked.
I get somewhere around 30mpg on the highway according to the computer in my '07, around town driving knocks it to 16-18mpg. Two weeks ago I went on a 4hr trip to the coast to fish and noticed the highway mpg was down around ~24-26; after replacing both air filters (they were dirty) and cleaning out a few leaves from the intake I am back to ~30 on the highway.
Lesson learned: Remember to pick your Zs nose from time to time, even if the dealer claims to have checked the filters during the previous service.
