30 MPG in a 350Z?????
Quick noob question, how accurate is the computer MPG calculator? I admit i drive it pretty gently back and forth from work, about 50/50 highway/city. I just recently started using the computer to calculate my mileage and it says im getting close to 30 on the highway, roughly 25 when i get home, i have a 6mt and have mastered driving it without ever going above 2k RPM (usually around 1,500). I suppose i could figure it out myself the next time i refuel bit i wanted to ask the experts first, i tried searching but was not sure what to search for. If the computer is unreliable i will just set it to something more useful, like the front tire pressures LOL!!!!

I usually drive my Z very easily as well. Even so, I don't ever see that kind of fuel economy. Around town driving kills my average fuel economy. Highway cruising can easily be close to 30mpg, but suburban driving knocks it way down. Only way to check the computer is to reset it on your next fueling and then calculate it when you refuel again.

If you care about mileage all so much you might as well get a hybird to begin with unless you just can't resist the look of a Z .
Anyway, just trying to look out for you if you ever plan to have fun with your Z
PS_ to answer your question OP, the computer is pretty inaccurate with me. I've been showing 25 mpgs averagely but it turns out to be eiter 15 or 18 til the next pump... so I don't really think the computer knows what they are estimating. I could be wrong cause I drive differently depends on the place and mood but I used to pay attention to this feature and it only resulted in nothing but misinformation.

I don't think its that accurate at all. I basically just average out to about 250-260 miles to a tank. I keep the computer on the MPH setting cause I'm too lazy to move my head to look at the speedo. Its easier to shift my eyes to that gauge to read the mph

Just a side note OP, if you drive your car like that all the time Z'll lose its sport nature overtime and you won't be able to have fun with it anymore in the future without some deep cleaning. You might wanna give it a little gas every so often to maintain its sporty nature.

Anyway, you should manually calculate your mileage instead of trust the comp (fill up, drive for awhile, fill up, and take the number of miles driven / number of gallons you put in on 2nd fill).

Well sense I got the test pipes/catback I been close then I got the track edition v2 rims now the computer says I get 30 or so mpg. Sense I got my tune I stay around 29 to 30. Also I shift around 2200 Roma and get 21 to 23 mpg city and all of that is with 75% city 25% highway. Hope this helps you!

I manually check my mileage at every fillup, and I find the fuel calculator/computer extremely accurate. I can usually predict within a 1/2 gallon how much it will take to fill up, because I always know almost exactly how much fuel i have used since the last fillup.
On the highway, at 80-85 MPH, I average about 26 MPG. If I slow it down to 65, I get about about 28. Around town, however, only about 22-23.

We experienced just under 30mpg while taking a 1200 mile, all-highway trip. More data = more accurate. The VQ is impressively efficient when driven lightly. Most of the fuel is consumed while accelerating. I also got 7mpg while driving it on the track.

I just bought a house so I'm trying to save money any where I can so I even started to drive very conservative. I don't shift over 2K unless i have to, and put it in neutral whenever I don't need to accelerate; I guess some consider this standard but it's not how I like to drive my Z. I'm averaging 23 mpg, and it's mostly City driving 16Miles a day. On average I'd get between 375 Miles per gallon, and I don't fill up until the DTE is blinking hyphens.

I got 33MPG (manually calculated) on a 900 mile road trip from Arizona to Texas. Granted, I was behind a moving truck the entire time and probably didn't go over 70MPH. The MPG indicator said 34.5, so it wasn't too far off. Driving in town/highway daily I get around 20MPG. Driving just city, I get around 17.

I'm averaging anywhere between 11 and 15 mpg in the city (I live in Seattle, which is nothing but hills) and get around 27 on the highway. Since I live and work in the city, I'm lucky to get 300 miles out of a tank of gas.
