Angry $hit! Hit curb tonight!

In Salisbury tonight visiting a friend. I'm making a left hand turn into an Exxon. This place was poorly lit and I should of known better. When traffic cleared I pulled into what I thought was the entrance. Nope. It was a curb! Luckily it wasnt a high one. It was a small one. Next thing I hear is "scrape" I sat there frozen for a second thinking WTF. Back up car and "scrape" again (heart sinks).

I looked at the bottom of the car, and it seems that the underside of the front bumper is the only thing that's damaged (drivers side). Not noticeable unless you are on your back checking. It's a good scrape. Can scrapes be repaired or do I need a new front bumper?

Also, what is that big plastic piece underneath the car that connects from the front bumper, all the way to the front suspension link? It's a black plastic piece. I think it's a cover of some sort. It has some light scratches on it. And finally, What else should I check on the car for possible damage?
Thanks guys

Wow that sux, I feel for you. It all depends on the damage whether or not you replace it. If you can't see it unless your on your back don't worry about it right now.

dont worry about it, no harm done other than the cosmetic stuff.

that black plastic is there for that purpose, its a skid plate of sorts, meant to block rocks and curbs I guess from hitting the engine and whatnot.

I did almost the same thing... but i was making a U on an intersection... and for some reason, the island was extended with some concrete (i guess new walkway did not reach the island, so they extended it), so when i made my U, i went up and scraped.... good thing i was goin real slow and the only thing that was scraped was that black piece of plastic...
