If it has testpipes they're going to have to fix that before they sell it. Dealers cant sell cars that wont pass emissions or dont have emmissions equipment intact...at least not in my state anyway.
Not to be a nanny but...you couldn't have put the cats back on before you traded it in? That would have saved it's next owner a huge pain in the ***, because you know the dealership is going to be jerks about it to whomever ends up with the car. They'll try as hard as they can to make it the buyer's problem even though it's really not.
