You’re right… my reply was very abrupt. My intention was to dispel the myth that deployed airbags meant the car is “totaled.”

The problem when replying to messages is that we are behind a computer, and the tone of the reply is easily misinterpreted. It would be different if we were talking at arm’s length (i.e., face-to-face).

I sincerely apologize if I offended you. Life is way too short to make enemies of people you don’t even know.

I totalled my Mustang a few years ago and that had substantially less damages than what yours endured.

Since you mention an actual and personal experience, please provide this info (that helps us learn):

1) What was the ACV of your Mustang?
2) What was the amount required to repair your Mustang?

As many of you know, not all insurance companies are equal. The negative side is I had a minor wreck & AAA was my company. They ended up not fully paying for the claim & after I called them they said "good luck in court being sued" & after you lose, talk to us MAYBE we will help you out. Needless to say, I canceled my insurance with them immediately.

On a positive note, years back my first wife totaled her SER & Ca Casualty insurance gave us high bluebook. A few years after that, we got our Datsun Diesel truck stolen & they gave me more than I thought thus they are again my insurance company.

nope not really. i had a head on collision before and my airbags deployed everything was fixed and turned back into stock form. i had the body shop put a 08 hood on my 06 touring and changed the bumper appearance a bit.
deployed airbags are replacable. they will put a brand new dashboard in there so it will be fresh, just be ready, the damages and parts were very expensive. mine was at 12K alone for bunch of plastic parts, if the damages exceed the value then it will be totaled, good luck with it. If it IS totaled, then get a 370Z.

If it costs 2/3 of the amount your car is worth to fix it then they will just total it and pay you what the blue book value is. Doesnt matter what is damaged. The insurance is only concerned with how much its going to be to fix it.

Update guys, you guys were right, the car is a total loss. Estimated repair came out to over $17,000. Time for a new car. Not sure what though. Thanks all.

Sorry guys, not selling any parts. Viva, sorry man, I know you wanted the valve, but I don't even know where the car is. It was taken away by my insurance to their own lot last week. I've been busy looking for a replacement car.
