Default Car declared a total loss. sell as is? or full part-out?

So I got into an accident with my 350, and the insurance company declared it a total loss. I already bought the car back because it made the most sense for the amount I was able to buy it back for. Now my only dillema is whether to part the entire car out or try to sell it as it sits. I am just looking for some opinions from anyone who has been on the same road I am on now. If anyone had parted out theyre entire car, how much did you guys make out with in the end?
the car is a 2003 6mt silverstone
52k original miles, runs and drives, bags did not deploy
the damage was very light in the front with no frame damage. The rear is where it took a good shot. Here are some pics of the rear.
Basically all engine parts are good, all suspension parts are good, all interior is good, only headlights, bumpers, tail lights, exhaust, hatch, are not good.
The rear uni-body would need a good amount of bodywork

That sucks about the accident. I'm thinking it would be easier to sell as is instead of dealing with parting it out. Your time is money. That's a lot of work to part out.

Just a reminder to everybody - this is not the Marketplace. He's looking for advice as to whether to part it or not. If it turns into a F/S thread, it doesn't meet the requirements of the Marketplace and will be deleted.

Yeah, as Smooth said, as is. parting it takes time, you have to deal with several buyers, several mailings, just too much of a hassle imo.

Part out what you feel is worth the most, sell the rest of it off as one lump heap.

I would be tempted to part it out. The big concern with that is you might not sell it all. Then you have to deal with finding a way to dispose of the crap that is left.

the price these Zs go for auction is retarded. it probably wouldnt have caught more than 6Gs. but since you already have it just part stuff and keep the rest for a future build. 240sx with a VQ FTW!!!

i would look at the classifieds and see whos been sitting on interior and drivetrain parts and make your decision off of that....plus trying to sell all this,dealing with lowballerrs and the endless trips to the ups store (or whoever u decide to ship with) might not be worth it....just my thoughts

parting out is alot of work

If you have the time and the patiences to that then I would part it.
Im sure there would be somebody interested in buying the car as a whole and repairing it so I would post it first and see if you get any bites. If no offers come your way strip her down

it would probably carry a salvage title making it a little harder to sell off.
A couple years ago would have been easier.
Many 2003 models are going for 10k or less, with clean titles.
I was offered motors for as little as 200 bucks.
I sold my 2003 tranny rev 5 for 150.00.
Some parts will sell easier and at a premium.
I say make it a project. Shop around for repairs.

i'm sure someone else has said this, but it all depends on how fast you want to get rid of it...

I don't know if this helps or not buuuuut.. I just traded my S13 and got a 2003 Silverstone Enthusiast with 50k on the odometer + $4,000.. Z had 2 bad cylinders and 3rd gear synchro was shot.. both rear quarters were dented to all hell (nothing nearly as bad as what happened to yours)... ended up having to put in a new motor, trans, clutch/flywheel, and replace rear endlinks

so i traded
(had every engine modification you think of before having to do internals or upgrade turbo + full silk road suspension, staggered RPF1 SBCs, etc etc etc---- i miss that car)


and got this + $4,000
(as it sat in the shop):

Dunnow if that helps and maybe gauges what you could get for yours?

Really i think depending on what you want for your next car, you really have three options.. You could sell as is, part out, or try to trade.. If the frame/motor are fine and it just needs body work - i'm sure there are probably some drift/track guys out there (like on zilvia.net or bimmerforums.com) that might want to trade...

I appreciate all the opinions... As for me making it a track car; since im a full-time student right now I don't really have the time or money to do that... I mean that would/could be awesome.. maybe if i was able to just hold onto the car for a few years then that could be a big possibility... As of right now I think I'm going to list it and see what kind of offers/bites I get.... so if anyone knows anyone who would be interested shoot me a pm
