Default The worst day of my 350z ownership. Hands Down....

So, After all the time, blood, sweat, tears...track days, autocross, high speed runs, 6 sets of tires, 7 sets of brakes, and my second motor at 31,000....She finally misbehaved, I really shouldn't blame her tho...I f***ed up...I was driving fast. Decided to slow down to the speed limit, decided a few minutes later that it would benefit me to change my CD, since I was now going much slower.
All of a sudden, The *** bag in front of me decided at the last minute he would turn into his driveway, putting the signal on as he was turning...I thought he was stopped to fork to the right, and tried to pass on the left....I was wrong, as soon as I was to the left, his blinker came on. He swiped and spun me, and luckily I scrubbed all the speed off backward, before going off under 10mph. Please don't comment on my age, I have been racing vehicles my whole life, I know where, and where not to do it. This was a sad day, I already am at fault because of following distance laws. Worse than that I feel at fault, it was a stupid error, and as fast as I am on a track, I still have only seen a few years of traffic driving. So, while I guess you could chalk this up to my age and experience, I don't need to hear it.

To comment on a lot of these responses.
First off thank you for the kind words. Secondly, I just got the estimate back an hour ago, its 7k in damage and I am putting it through insurance, and it is still driving fine. I already knew that because when I crashed, I was 1 mile from my house, and days earlier had bought a truck to start to toe my car to the track. The cop asked if I need a toe truck, I smiled and said "nope" I just hooked it up to my permanent toe hook, yanked it out, and drove off race car status. got some dirty looks. Test pipe was cracked so it was loud as ****.

Also, I agree the only up-side to this is I get brand new paint, and have a few sick pictures my friend who is a photographer took of me, I was sitting in the driveway after washing the dirt off, when he came over. They were supposed to be like the "love the beast" pictures...If you don't know, it is the Eric Bana documentary about car lifestyle. Check out the trailer on you tube.

It actually does not look that bad besides the rear panel. Everything else can be replaced.

We all make mistakes when we drive. Sometimes we assume a driver is going to do one thing, and does another. Good luck on the car!

It wasn't so bad there were more perks...

I had two months earlier broke up with a girlfriend of 3 years, 7 hours later met an underwear model in the city, and asked her to move in 4 days later. I will post a picture because you wont believe it...but my dads friends say when they die they hope they come back as me. hahaha...

That's the back-story to the second big perk. We broke up, and she moved out 3 weeks ago because she could not find a job, and won't do long distance (*****)...So when she heard I crashed my Z she was already in the car, and just drove 2 hours to my house. She is at the door, and tells me she made a mistake and wants to get back together. To avoid giving my answer I just kissed her instead, this lead her to take me and make me feel MUCH MUCH better about my crash...
Then i got total satisfaction...she asked if we could get back together...I said
"While I would love to, you were right when you said you made a mistake, and I wont put myself in a position to get hurt again, this time im sorry to say, i just can't do the whole long distance thing. I told you my plan was to move to the city, and I just got a job at UBS investment bank"

PICS of girl will follow... I need to pick something kinda pg-13 but its hard.

I honestly think sometimes I am safer driving a bit faster, not fast, but spirited...at least then I have the stereo off, and am paying full attention

Taking it like a man, Rob, so +1 on that. Sorry to see the car like this, it used to look so good! Get 'er fixed, and keep on tracking!

I agree with paying more attention when driving spirited. No dicking around with the phone, stereo, etc., etc.
