I think I know what he's talking about too. For instance, every gear I shift into the tach bounces at the designated rpms +/- 250-500 rpms.. for instance, if shifting from 1st to 2nd lands me at 3k, the rpms would jump around from 2750-3250 for a split second then stop at 3k.. same with if I blip the throttle really quickly while in gear, the tach needle would bounce above and below the correct rpm.

I drove an 08 Z and it did not do this; nor any other manual car I've driven for that matter

This is exactly what is happening to me. Good job. Someone knows what i'm talking about lol. Guess it's normal for these cars or certain years.

It's not the certain car or the certain year - it is part of engine/transmission physics. But I am still not understanding the "rough road" part of the OP

not that I doubt your reasoning on why it bounces, but why do some Z's do it and other don't? I think it is more of a tach issue.

I'm having a very difficult time understanding your "problem". So I have to ask - how old are you?
Before asking how old the OP is, you should re-read his question. Seems like you jumped to the conclucion, and YOU'RE the one not understanding what he's trying to ask.

I have a 05 base model. Mine is also doing this. I have not made any attempts to really isolate this issue. Since I have no jerking or harsh engagement issue, and smooth acceleration I chalked it up as a gauge defect rather than speed sensor.

My apologies for not understanding a post that has the grammar of a 10 year old.

OP- I think I know what you're referring to. Mine does that as well, mostly after I've floored it or gotten close to redline. The best way to describe it is that the tachnometer needle becomes 'extra sensitive' and starts hesitating.

OP - had a 06 that did this. When in gear I give it gas and it would bounce up and down, not sure how it works, but i'm sure it can be fixed. I would go to the dealer and they should know. What mine also did was it would get stuck too for about 10 seconds. Sitting at a light and it would stay at 700 rpm and after I drive off it still stayed at 700 while I'm shifting through the gears. About 10 seconds later it would slowly slug back up to working condition. This only happened probably 5 times, but I dont need that gauge anyway, I know where my red line is Now I have a 07 but it does not do this tho.
