> 4000 Rpm
I have been pretty good but I have to admit I went over slightly last night, some kids in an Acura TL saw me and started to play and it was some much fun to smoke them, the car is unbelieveable the power is so smooth it almost feels effortless, I can't wipe the smile off my face.
I had a chance to go 3-wide on the freeway last night with a TT and S2000 -- car goes real fast over 4000 RPM, but the power band is pretty linear, you don't feel a huge surge or anything...

Who won? Who cares about the power band!!!
The power just keeps building beyond 4000 in a linear manner. Remember, at 4000 you're only getting about 200 of those 287 ponies, so keeping it below four grand is like driving an Eclipse! (But a better-looking, better handling Eclipse.)
As you approach redline, the sound and fury increases and there is a fair deal of vibration -- you know this ain't a Lexus you're driving! (For sports car nuts, that's a good thing, of course.)
I don't think the odd excursion to 6000 or so during the break-in period will hurt the engine, so I did it a few times. Now that I've got over 1000 miles on her, I can enjoy guilt-free redlines all day long. Woo-hoo! (BTW since peak HP is at 6200 and power falls off rapidly after that, there's no need to approach redline. Shift at just over 6k and you'll get max power and not flirt with redline. Better yet, set the blinking light thingy and you can watch the road instead of the tach!)

I guess since it's a nat-asper V-6 you don't have the turbo-lag to deal with which makes it feel more responsive.
I can NOT wait to get another 600 miles under my belt and really feel what this machine is about.

HEY!!! What about Lexus?
I'll have you know my GS4 in stock form, 300-hp & 315 ft/lbs. torque is running 0-60 in 5.8 & the 1/4 in 14 flat @ 100mph! That is enough to run with (or beat) most sports cars on the road! And with my "tweaks", I'm sure my GS will pull on a 'stock' 350Z! (which is why my Z will be modded too
)

Hey, why all of the yelling? All I said is that the Z isn't as smooth as a Lexus, but I don't mind. Sorry, geez -- touchy, touchy. Re-read my post and take a valium, will ya?

Keeping this car < 4000 rpm is one of the toughest things I have had to do recently on the road. The car is so smooth, on the freeway i hit 95mph and still < 3500, and the car is telling me that it wants to do so much more. Its like having that beautiful woman right in front of you, willing, and...wait, pg-13 forum, I should stop right there
Plenty of power <4000, really want to see how this bad boy is at 6500. I accidently took it to 5500 the other day, but only for a second. Full report once I have 1100 miles on this bad boy (1000 tame, 100 nuts).
Cheers,
Tubbs

I am so happy I didn't have to worry about keeping the car under 4000 RPMs with the rental I had. I took it down a really small twisty road (twice, second time a lot slower cuz my girlfriend was along for the ride) and I kept it at the top of second the whole time. For those in the bay area, Page-Mill, between Skyline and 280. There was a ton of power pulling out of corners. Early on I stepped on the gas a bit too hard and almost swung the tail into a volvo coming the other direction. I loved the way the car felt on this road. I chose it because it is really twisty, but the road isn't in the greatest shape, and I wanted to see how it handled on all the bumps. I usually avoind this road on my motorcycle because of the poor condition of the road, but the Z ate it up. My friend who has an E30 M3 said that it did't have enough road feel for him, But I thought it was great.
Zpilot,
You chose a good road to test the car on. Very tight and twisty with a marginal surface. Glad to hear the car did so well. I'll have to give that stretch a try when my car shows up.
