I have an 07 350z Touring, 6-speed. I had the clutch sticking to the floor issue while I was at the drag strip. However, I also had the same issue with my 05 a couple of times. In the 05 it seemed like the problem fixed itself, while I had the clutch master cylinder recall done on my 07. To be honest, I'm not sure if that really fixed the issue.
Overall the 350z is a very mechanically sound car. Since you can afford to spend 19k+, definitely get an 07 or 08, since they come with the HR engine. Power rating was only up 19hp from the original DE engine, but it's really about 30hp stronger (SAE rating standard change).
In my 05 I never really had any kind of issue. I drove it from 49k to 72k miles before somebody hit me and totaled it. The car still drove like a new car before that happened. I got my 07 last November with 25k miles on it. It now has 35k miles on it. I can honestly say the only issues of any kind that I've had so far were:
1)Clutch sticking to the floor after several burnouts/passes down the 1/4 mile the first time I took it to the drag strip. Hasn't happened the last several times I've been to the strip.
2)My TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system) light starting blinking on a recent road trip. I got nervous, so I stopped, turned the car off, and manually checked the pressure in all 4 tires. Everything was normal.. so I got back in and drove another 5 hours without an issue. I didn't have the issue again on my 8-hour return trip either.
What you'll be getting with a 350z (particularly an 07 or 08) is a faster car with at least equal handling, and a great track-record for reliability. This is actually my 3rd Z-car overall. I had an 86 300zx 5-speed, and it was bulletproof. I swear, I tried to break it and couldn't. Overheated it multiple times (not on purpose), revved it 400 rpms past redline a few times (on purpose), beat it senseless... Granted, the 350z is a much more powerful car, and we know that power breaks stuff.. but so far my 350z's have been very solid as well.
Good luck in your search! I know it was a little bit tough for me to find exactly what I was looking for once my 05 got wrecked. I got mine for $19,900, and it was 1 of 2 07-08 Z's that met my criteria (6-speed, cruise control, less than 40k miles) within about 300 miles of me.
