Anyone notice this about the Rear Bumper?
Either I'm blind or the Japanese rear bumper is different in those scans that were posted today.
North American car:
Japanese car:
I think the Japanese bumper looks better when it molds around the exhaust tips. What do you guys think?

you know I was wondering the same thing...
all of the final production pics I was looking at show this exhasut with the formed rear bumper...which much nice looking...ah well.
US always gets hosed...Japanese and Euros typically get the best of the best.

well I dont think that is a non-us spec in the scans...look at the license plate area...its is made for North American plates...
what's more...here is the official pic from the nissandriven.com site
So I'm hoping we get the verion in this pic, but who knows.

i don't know man, its hard to tell from those production car pics, cause the angle is from top down, and its really dark near the exaust area. if you look at the following pic, it seems the production car's bumper is around the exaust, althought the dark color makes it hard to tell
oh well, either way, i'll still love my Z

haha, exsilio, i was doing the exact same thing.
i used photoshop to add some brightness and contrast to this picture, and you can kind of see some mold to the bumper.

my 2 cents
I think its contoured too!
It's a combination or a view from eye level along with the dark shadow mixed with the blue which makes it appear different.
I'm attaching a pic of the car with the spoiler morphed out.

To tell you the truth, I wish it didn't have cutouts. Sure it looks better with dual exhaust on the car but that means that you have to stick with a dual exhaust muffler if you change the exhaust. I would prefer to get a single in, single out muffler and just have a single exhaust tip. Can't do it if there is going to be an empty contour with no exhaust tip sticking out. When you are buying a dual out muffler, you are stuck with chambered mufflers and can forget about a straight through design unless you want to buy two mufflers and split the exhaust before which is a total waste. Maybe I'll just leave a fake exhaust tip hanging in the unused exhaust contour. Seems ricey, though.

really? why not 2 "1 in 1 out" mufflers which are fed from 2 pipes along the bottom of the car, which in turn are fed each from twin headers? i think this is what i am hoping for....
Front
E 3 <-Headers

0 0 <-Mufflers

Rear
i hope that come out right/

Economics aside, mufflers go 2 into 1 then out to 2 for performance reasons. That way the output of each cylinder has access to the volume of the entire muffler system, thereby lowering exhaust resistance and increasing performance.
Remember, only 1 cylinder fires at a time, and doing a 1 into 1 out to 1 wastes muffler volume.

At that point, the pipe is just to keep the fire away from the car.
