Default Off-Road Capabilites?

Hey guys. Disregarding your personal opinions on this, I would really appreciate some honest info

Has anyone heard of, or thought of what it would take to mod the Z for better off-road capabilities? I'm not talking about a full blown rally car, I'm talking more along the lines of being able to take the Z off the street and not worry about damaging components.

I am a very avid outdoorsmen and I do a lot of **** off the road. Mountain biking, surfing, wakeboarding, skiing.... and I would like to be able to take my Z with me instead of having to borrow a truck/jeep

Anyhow, I searched, but to no avail

Can you help?

Thanks

did you really think you would get a legit response?

the Z has had time going up a gravel slope, cannot imagine in dirt/sand/mud/trails/ruts/forest

Well I think on a forum this big all concentrated on one car you would get some questions that maybe are out of the ordinary. But you also get a lot of ****ing nerds as well, I guess.

Well, I think with the right mods that would completely change that problem, correct? I mean, if you changed the suspension and wheels... what could you accomplish without having to really redesign the car and spend tens of thousands of dollars?

Thanks for chiming in though.

How is that a stupid question? What on earth makes you think anyone else in the world is going to have the same opinion as you? Especially when it comes to cars

You are pretty simple minded, as I can see by your 1950's response.

lifting your Z will be severely compromise its handling and what is was built for, and to a large extent, make it a waste of technology in your hands. you might as well have bought a subaru.

this idea is equivalent to you owning a bigass POS hummer and wanting to mod it to be lower to more adequately handle the track because you "are an avid track-goer and autox guy".

total waste of technology/cash for what the car was made for.

that was my opinion. now to answer your question, i dont know that anyone has ever done that, but with enough cash you can do pretty much whatever to your Z.

I'm sorry but, I'm pretty sure 75,000EU is more than 80,000USD. With the exchange rates at what they were when I last checked, try more like 95,000USD

Not that anybody cares lol...

Anywho, your money would honestly be better spent buying a used, beat up jeep or scoobie, or any other vehicle along those lines, and having that as ur off-road car so you can keep ur Z in the garage. I say this not to be a smart *** or to start "flaming" anybody, but because the intended market for the Z is the high performance racing scene, and rally style modifications are not part of that, meaning they have little to no market, and therefore manufacturers have no reason to sell them. You would have to have parts custom fabricated which would be expensive, where as if you bought a used jeep or scoobie or Pathfinder, etc, it would run you anywhere from 2-10 grand and do an infinately better job at what you are looking for than a 95,000USD dedicated Rally Z... That's just my 2 cents

Thanks for the info. I've had my 350 for 6 years now and I've never modded the engine nor have I ever taken it to the track. I use it to drive everywhere I need to be if I'm not on my ducati. So, as much as I can understand how most guys with z's will use it for a more track/race oriented purpose (or look in most cases), I don't think it would be a total waste if I spent the same amount of money you or anyone else did, only for different components.

As of now, I have a Seibon carbon fiber hood, Volkf TE-37's on Falkens and a system.

And I see why you say I should have bought a subaru, but I didn't and I don't regret my car one bit only now I think I'm ready to change it up.

Much appreciated. I have no intentions of selling the Z so that doesn't scare me off, but what does scare me off is the fact that you stated about how finding aftermarket parts for this project would be near impossible

So, it's beginning to look more like a dream because I just don't have that type of money to be spending on my DD, or else I would be driving a Porsche

We'll see though, maybe someone has some good news for me.

Thanks again for the advice.
