Default Nissan official acknowledgement of problem??

Has NNA officially acknowledged a problem with the fit of the gas cap door?? If so, what are the steps to get it corrected. I'm assuming that prior to acceptance of our Z's, we have the dealer document the fit & finish of this part so that it is part of the record. Thoughts.

How about those of you who have already taken delivery. What are your dealers telling you??

What's the problem. Closing or opening the gas cap? Is it the exterior gas door?

It's amazing to me that the simple things don't get caught before manufacture. My wife and I bought a new Pilot when it debuted and the rear seat belts that come from the ceiling have no tethering device. So after a few days, they come out of the roof and just hang down.

Honda's working on a fix for it but I can't believe over the whole R&D that it was never thought of. Obviously, the test vehicles had the same issue.

At any rate, hope it gets resolved for you.

I think the problem with the gas cap door is that they aren't sitting flush with the body?

Default Bose

I have the Bose in my 350 z and its not as good as the one in my 99' Maxima SE. It has way too much bass. I like crisp clear bass. This is bass that never goes away. It just makes the entire system sound muffled. It sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just noticed the Gas Cap problem when i was washing my car last night .. it seems like its getting worse and worse (its like its bending itself out of position and is less flush with the exterior).

I noticed this too. My gas cap kinda stuck out and not sit flush. However, it was because I had the tether all twisted inside, and just closed the gas cap anyways. After a few days, it just kinda sat that way.

If you notice, there are 2 notches underneath the gas nozzle receptacle. Slide the tether under there, and you should be fine. I kinda pushed the gas cap where it belongs, and it now sits flush.

On a related note, does anyone know if Nismo has a chrome racing gas cap? THAT would look sweeet!

Yea, this has been my biggest complaint so far. It doesn't matter what you change your settings to, the Bose automatic adjustment system will guarantee that you have a crappy listening experience. Even if you adjust something and think "Wow, that sounds okay", give the auto-level stuff a few seconds and it will screw it up.

My dealer's service department has been contacting Nissan to see what solution they are going to offer for the gas lid not sitting flush when closed. The dealer has noticed this on ALL pre-orders that they have recevied. Also, I took my Z in this morning to have them look at the rattle from the passenger visor and this looks like its a factory defect. Not sure which VIN's this effects, but they are looking into ordering a new passenger visor for mine...hopefully the new one won't have the same issue. I encourage folks to contact their dealership if they see any of these problems or additional ones because the sooner folks do, the sooner Nissan will offer a solution.

I kind of expected that. I'm now glad I didn't go for the touring, Bose could be an OK stereo, but it does not have the reputation of a nacamichi or other high end systems. I really would not expect much from a bose system. Some people hear the Bose name and think it is the greatest, but this is really only because Bose spends more on marketing than on anything else.

What is your vin # (to the nearest hundred if you dont' want to give out your actual vin; maybe it was corrected on the assembly line on car #1000 and up. This way, those with lower vins may have the gas cap problem ..while those with upper vins are resolved already.

My Chicago gas cap fits fine, VIN #14**.

My Bose does sound like sh*t though. Maybe it's just me, but the radio sounds worse than the CD, which still sounds pretty bad.

The Touring I looked at in Tyson's Corner (Northern VA) last night seemed to have the gas cap cover a little out of alignment. The lid has a compound curve that probably adds to the challenge of keeping it looking right because it's more obvious??? I would have liked a cap that's exposed like the old Jag's, but that's just my taste...
