This is the worst thing to ever happen to be in my life. My Z is dead

Transfering from 17 to 85 towards Gilroy, on a slight turn, I must have hit something in the road because I felt a jolt, the car then lost control, slid sideways and smashed nose first into a cement wall, then spun around and made contact on the front again, then tossing it into another spin and smashed *** in to the wall, then coming to a stop... I got out of the car, and just about died right there. I have never seen something as bad as the view of my baby all smashed up. I cried for hours, and hours, and I am about to start again while writing about this. Coolant leaking all over, other liquids, smoke everywhere.

Six air bags in my car, NOT ONE CAME OUT!!!! NOT ONE! We DEFFINITLY hit hard enough for them to deploy.

I say we because I had my friend in the car. We are both fine with the exception of my purple pinky finger. Went to the hospital to check up, and all is ok.

I hope to god they decide to fix the car, the car could and never would be the same. There has GOT to be frame damage, the entire front end is smashed, door would barley open.

Will post the pics when I get them.

RIP 9/24/03 - 11/9/03 Such a short life

EDIT : Pictures on page three.
EDIT # 2 : More details on last page.

ouch. at least you're ok. you can always get another car.
I know it's hard to take but I've been there. Almost the same
way and lost my modded tt rx7... I can't even buy a new
rx7 so you're much better off. The insurance company will
total it for sure... get some good sleep cause your neck
will be sore.

ps. at least you don't have facial burns from the air bag...

i know how u feel, i totalled my cs touring about two weeks before my one year anniversary. i really feel for you, but i'm glad your ok. i hit on the front passenger side and both air bags deployed, but the seat belt broke my left collar bone. believe me it could have been much, much worse. i hope your insurance is good to you, and that youll be back on the road in no time.

Think they will cover my rims/tires? I have no had a chance to imform them about them. about 3,700 + I would be out if they don;t cover it. Then another 2,700 on tax/reg./and other fees. Another 300 on my Xpel kit. Then I am out of the rest of the money form depriciation.

As far as I know they don't cover any aftermarket parts that you didn't inform them of before hand. So if your rims are toast (they probably are), hate to say it but they're gone Part of the risk of mod'ing unfortunately.

And you can't tell them you've made performance upgrades without your premiums skyrocketing...and thats IF you can even get them to insure it! My previous car insurance provider said a Z was uninsurable stock unless I had a vehicle insured through them before purchasing it.

Tax/reg/depreciation I'm not sure on. Never totaled a vehicle. Have a friend who's smashed three civics and they always gave him a fair market value of the car but not what he paid for it originally.

Oh man! I'm so sorry to hear about it, but am really glad you came out of it okay.

I think I know about that something in the road, because I hit it once also. It's on the right lane of the merge ramp 17SB->85SB, on the left side near the left lane, something like that, right? I hit it at night, but it seemed like it was a deformation in the road -- the asphalt where 85SB started was a little higher than the concrete of the flyover. It was so loud in my car I immediately switched over to my tire pressure monitor.

I hope you'll be able to get a brand new 350Z!

Find out how much they will be giving you for stock wheels. The stock 18s arent cheap. What they give you could be almost enuff to get you some new TEs.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Can't you get some sort of "compensation" for this? You could have been seriously hurt because of this MALFUNCTION!!!

If you guys are talking about the same spot, this is definately something you need to take up with the city/county. They need to be made aware.

Wow... I was expecting to feel better when I woke up, I'm still just metally destroyed .

Yes, it was the same spot, right lane, not sure what side. Car just jolted, and lost control. No matter how I counter steered, no matterwhat I did, the car just kept going in the same direction.

As for the airbags, I will try something, not sure what, but I will. After I get a new car though first. ( Maybe a cheaper price ona new Z? I'll need it.. )

Thanks for the advice of telling them about my stock wheels. ( They are only 17's but hey, still a little bit )

THANK YOU for everyone showing me support. It really helps.

"make" them pay for your rims! really... the squeeky wheel
gets the grease (no pun indented). When my first car was
totaled, I told them about the stuff (legal) I put on (only after
the incident but with good receipts) and they eventually did
compensate me fairly (after 1 month of negotiation, say "NO"
to their first offer). I got 15% more then they first offered.

2nd incident, I also didn't take their first offer, but this time
it was a much better insurance company so they actually
countered with a *better* offer then I was going to ask for
(and got a reply within the week)...

so, you don't have to take what they offer you. Here's the
plan:

1. if you have a good ins. company, just say no and say why.
Offer receipts of your purchases that were actually ATTACHED
to your car. Offer pictures of your car (showing condition).

2. if you have a hard a*s company, take a sample (3 cars) of
comparable cars in your area. Try the auto trader or something
similar. I went to their offices where they have archives that
I could photocopy. Present those as "why you deserve more".
They will do the same but they will use much worse condition
cars (or not even the same TRIM model). If after 1 month, they
still resist, then it's arbitration time. If you have good records
and samples, then you should be fine (in my case, the ins.
company can around and paid up as soon as I said "arbitration
then").

good luck,
rob

ps. tell them "it is totaled". Also tell them that it's been raining
hard to boot and what's left is an aquarium!
