second allocation?
I missed the pre-order, but I put a deposit down at a dealer in Houston over 3 weeks ago. I did this because I was told the car would be ordered to my specifications, and would have an expected delivery in December. Now I'm being told that they don't even know if they can place more orders, or if they will just receive random cars as part of the next allocation. Anyone know the real deal? I thought I heard that dealers could start placing orders this month, but of course my dealer didn't know anything about this. Also, apparently my dealer ordered a few cars in names of salesman and intends to sell these cars at MSRP, except only after a 90 day waiting period...something about they need to wait 90 days before they transfer the car into someone elses name? Does this sound right?
The 90 day thing is ********, just want to have cars in their showrooms to get an edge over other dealers. The pre-order program has been long over due- orders can be placed but you won't be seeing your car until early 2003
Watch out for shady dealers... I'd wait till the cars get into the lot before you start putting a deposit down.
Unless they are honest (and you trust them)... once they get your deposit, they already have leverage on you and the deal.
If you really want a Z before early next year, try to pick up someone's pre-order... or scan your local dealers for pre-orderers who backed out. Don't pay more than MSRP cause the dealer mark-up is BS and there are plenty of dealers who DO sell MSRP.
Good luck. =)
