Default NJ Front Plate Requirement

Do you know how strict they are in NJ about having a front license plate?

Also, what the fines are if you are found in violation?

Don't know the fines but I have driven my Z since March without being hassled. And cops notice the car just like other fans, so it's not for lack of being seen.

I'll probably get a ticket now...thanks!

I've had no plate on the front for almost 8 months now without any problem from the law. Let's hope that continues!

I have about 9000 miles on the car now and have only been pulled over once. Didn't get a ticket but a slap on the wrist about getting the license mounted. That was about it.

I drive to NJ everyday on I-80 and several times a cop has pulled out after me after seeing no front plate but then backed off after seeing my PA rear plate.

where in jersey are you? my theory is, if your under the age of 21 and your driving a Z w/ no front plate, you have a pretty good chance of getting pulled over....

Exclamation Front Plate requirements

I am from Texas, and as in New Jersey, we require front plates! I read on one of the forums a month ago about problems here in Texas about getting rapped about the absence of plates... this was generally in addition to those members also picking up a speeding ticket at the same time. I have had my Z for close to three months now and I am without a speeding ticket! I still get a lot of looks from cops as I drive by without my front plate. The car just attracts it! One aside note... ran into a cop at Courtesy Nissan one day who was a Z fanatic! He has a 300ZX and an original 240Z. He has no plates on either and plans not to! Take that for what it is worth! If you plan to speed and possibly get tickets on a routine basis, you might want the front plate! Someone has mentioned the Z Bracket here, I believe, and it mounts onto the grill. instead of the bumper and can be removed. Sorry for the long windedness of this post.

Happy Motoring,
Z_Nut
