Default Honda enthusiast...new to Nissan

I've been a Honda enthusiast for a long time now. I've been obsessed with the NSX for as long as I can remember. It's my dream car. Now...I've only sat and rode in the NSX once or twice. It was definitely a tight fit, mainly headroom and seat fitment.

I'm 6'5". I feel like if I do purchase the NSX, it'll be like buying new shoes...one size too small. Wear them for a week straight until you realize how uncomfortable they are day to day.

I've finally come to terms with the fact that I might not purchase an NSX in the future. Despite all the NSX members that tell me, "If it's your dream car, you will make it work!". Regardless, it's hard to justify spending $40,000 on a car that takes you $2,000 to modify for daily driving.

So...now I'm looking on towards the next car that can claim my obsession. I have been interested in the 350Z since it's first debut at the Detroit Auto Show. I remember getting "The Run" promotional DVD and watching it over and over

Since I've always been a Honda enthusiast, I don't know as much about Nissan or Nissan's performance potential. How does the 350/370Z compare to cars like the NSX? Of course, I would expect anyone to be bias towards the car they drive

I'm interested in test driving and researching more about the NISMO 350Z and NISMO 370Z. Do you Z owners think the NISMO edition Z's are worth the money? Or are they just over priced Z's with body kit's? (Reference to Mugen edition Civic Si)

Also, what factors made you choose the Z over competitors?...brand loyalty?...performance?...exclusivity?

All opinions and suggestions are welcome!

C.

Most of us are just here for the off-topic section. We don't really own Nissans.

In that case, the Z fits plenty of tall people, with much more room than a NSX. Both are fun and semi equal on the track.

if i could, i would gotten an evo instead of a z. Well that could just be because I have had the z for 2 years, the grass is always greener on the other side.

Go to the thread, "Top 100 questions" your questions shall be answered. As for the 370's, go to the370.com and read up there. Go and drive one and you'll know what you really want.

Default hmm.

i seem to be in a charity mood w my posts today..
this is the guys first post tho. .. i shal be nice.

to be honest, were all #ssholes a little. but it comes w just being aggressive guys.. and im sure were all good w that.

Im 6'5"...
I was about to buy a 94 NSX before the Z.

An NSX is old.. theres no technology like the Z built in.

You will be replacing rubber parts and chasing problems.

The car itself will undoubtedly be fine.. but if you are really APPLES TO APPLES.. then youre talking about a new Z versus a NEW NSX.. and thats a terrible match up.

NSX, twice, maybe 3x the cost. Same HP.
NSX? lighter car. WIll be a bit faster
WIll you fit? No. Barely. goonishly.

Bottom line is that if youre talking about buying like a 2008 Z coupe versus a comparably priced NSX, youd be buying a much older car.
40k for a decent lower mileage used nsx is a brand new full priced 370z. 2011. Think of that. You even get new car smell standard.

40k on an older 2 owner car? Never a good idea.

I know NSX was cool, and i wont trash it as your dream car.. but in ITS class, its the WORST bang for the buck " supercar" (sic) that there is, and this is from the ouths of car and driver.

It was 287 hp for close to 100k.... insane.

If i was short like a yard gnome id buy a Lotus Esprit for 79k brand new and be done.. Thankfully im not.. and i didnt.

Buy a Z. Its got a 200k mile engine in it if cared for, a huge following of advice and tech, large aftermarket support... and stays up w my buddies new 997 911 porsche all day long w simple NA mods.

AND the used ones are super cheap since the 370 came out.

Theres no comparison.

Look at the reality.. youd pass up buying a newer reliable car to buy an old car to fake the funk.. never a good idea. I see ppl paying 40k for 2003 745 BMWs to act rich around here.. nice.. just paid 35k for a car w 117k miles on it.. hmm.

You say youve been in an NSx, but have you driven a Z?

It takes a long time to get bored w one, thats for sure.

Hope this helps.

I just sold my Z maybe 3 months ago and i miss it every damn day that goes by... I might even get a used 300Z just to get my fun factor back. But offer was good so i don't regret it that much. I'm 6'1'' and i fit in the Z. Get a Z instead of the NSX, makes the most sense. You won't regret it.

I had a honda too... and I really liked the car, but once I got a Nissan. I sure won't go back to Honda. Compared to Honda, Nissan weighs more into power and performance and it shows.
