Default To sell or not to sell.

Hello gents,

It seems there comes a time in everyones life where they have the great debate of selling something they love. I live in Idaho, and I bought my Z a couple years ago living under different circumstances. It's been my daily driver through and through, but after spinning out on the highway last winter going 40mph and having to make two trips to retrieve groceries from the store. I've started doing a little soul searching. I love my car and always will, but the appeal of something 4 door, performance oriented and with a decent trunk to match. Now I'm 21, a student, and I live with my fiancée. Needless to say I don't make the comfortable 70k a year consensus to be worry free. I wouldn't be able to buy another car and pay for both atm. So one has to go. I've always been a fan of Evo's 7-9. The Evo X is just not very appealing to me. At the time of my purchase of the Z I had in fact been hunting for four cars; Evo, Sti, B5 S4, or 350z. Things fell into place and the Z became the car I went with, based on the mileage of the car I found and the availability in my area along my schedule to travel. I now question that decision. Do I sell my Z and buy an EVO. I keep waking up late at night over and over again thinking about it. It's just a car, but its driving me nuts. I figured I'd post here since it is in fact a 350z enthusiast site and most of you have had somewhat of this issue I'd assume.

More stuff on the Z
Here's a full set of my mod list:

Exterior:
MB Battles 18x9.5 -10 rear 245/40/18 -5 front 235/40/18
Muteki SR35 Neo Chrome lugs
S2k antenna
15% window tint
HKS plate cover
Front lip V2
Tucked rear bumper
Cf style turn markers

Interior:
Indash dvd player

Suspension:
Hotchkis springs

Engine:
Jwt popcharger
Kinetix resonated test pipes
Custom 2.5 inch catside into 3 inch Y-pipe with 18 inch resonator
Hks Carbon Ti single

Here's some thoughts on what I'd like out of an Evo:

Evos are bigger money pits than our cars, but do what you want. I could never imagine buying enough groceries that I couldn't fit it all in the Z somehow, but if that's the biggest of your worries then suck it up. You have a clean car, keep it and enjoy it till you get into a better position financially. You have to think about insurance as well. When I checked mine into an evo/sti it was significantly higher than the z. Ultimately the decision is yours, but I would dispose of the fiancée if she had anything to do with this.

Yeah something with the evo's at least (not sure about the sti) but they require more maintenance, the gas worst mileage, higher insurance... I'd get a 1970s beater and winter tires for the Z but that's just me.

i have two buddies with evos and shizz is always breaking on them...and if you need trunk space, take out your back mat and spare tire! then you have a lot of space back there lol

I hate turbo cars with stick shifts, way too inconsistent,. You will think the car is slow when youre not on the boost. Don't even think about one of these cars until you test drive one. If you like to drive like you stole it and always drive very fast you might like it. I had a turbo eclipse (some mods), what a lame car compared to a 350Z.

Were you runnin those wheels and tires in the snow?

I have set of stock 05 enthusiast 17 inch wheels with blizzaks that I run in the winter and it turned the z from worthless to capable in the snow.

Thanks for the comments and advice guys. Fiancée had nothing to do with this. In fact she wanted me to keep it. I may be better of buying a beater car or something. I spun out on stock wheels with all seasons, I guess I just have to be more careful. I used to have a boosted car and I know how it goes as well; turbo lag is fun. Couple of my good friends have Evo's and I've always enjoyed the performance out of them not to mention the relative ease of achieving power over 300whp on a decent budget. I guess I just have to learn to make due with it. I really don't want to sell it. So if I'm going to keep it anyone have any suggestions on v1 or v2 canards for the rears and a wing by chance? LOL

I actually lived in Idaho up until last year, love the place. I personally think the Evo would be a better just because of the all-wheel drive is a better fit for the area. Now I'm in Vegas and don't really worry about the snow...

wow I have been debating this one all weekend!!!

At some point last week I got it in my head the my z wasn't good enough anymore. big mistake. I live in Kansas City, and we get some pretty bad winters here, last year I made my dad come pick me up and take me to work way too many times(lifted H2). and on top of that my 6 mo. old vizsla (soon to be a 65 lb dog) will grow restless with area in the back of the z. and on top of this all im about to move into a house with a 2 mile gravel rd to the house!!!!

my z has 120,000, but hasn't had a single issue and still looks like a $30k car. but if i dont sell it soon no one will want it with any higher mileage. I am seriously obsessed with my z and will probably cry when if let it go. If i keep it much longer I may as well keep it for life, and rebuild engine/parts as needed.

I'll admit I take looks over performance, and no car I have found yet is, as....
cheap to maintain/reliable, fuel efficient, quick and damn sexy as the 350z! the evo x is at the top of the list (used white one with 15k miles.) The one thing that has me held up is the 16 year old kid, riced out, happy meal toy, look of the evo's. the z is just soooo much better lookin. I just know I wont be pickin up chicks in a decked out evo.

Maybe it be be easier to simply move to a nicer climate, give my dog away and keep my z

Maybe buying a beater would be your best bet.

I live in Nampa and we just picked up a low mileage '07 ZR. About 4 weeks later, I bought a $2K jeep from someone on Craigslist for driving in the winter. Having a Z is doable around here, it just takes a little more effort. Don't give up on the Z!

Two trips at the grocery store for you and your girl. WTF, my wife and I both have a Z and it works just fine for us. Hell we even make a 2500 mile trip last summer with one of the cars.
