This pertains to the "17 year olds getting Z's" debate...
Exactly, thanks JEKL.
Kid, you are sooo upside down on this car and you will always be. It's just not a smart deal. Two or 3 years from now when you want to trade it in on another car you'll see what I'm taking about.
PS: Just curious, where did you get the loan from?
In these economic times, it’s just unimaginable a bank or credit union would be writing a 60 month loan on a 7 year old car.

So like i said, ive had my Z for two years since i was 17....
To this day, the advice i give to kids i know in high school is... never buy a new car that you have to take out loans for in high school. UNLESS you are willing to risk having your *** bleed in terrible situations.
For example, my car means more to me than a lot of things. Ive paid 15k so far for my 30k car. I still have 15k to go. Ive borrowed money more times than i can remember and have worked overtime more times than i can remember. Its nothing special to pay for a car when youre a kid since there is nothing else to pay for. I dedicated my social life to paying for this car.
I had my wheels stolen last week. This cost me 2000$ of loss. Obviously, i cant afford a great insurance since I have to pay for it, and my deductible is 1000$. When unexpected things like this happens, its terrible to be in this situation. Since i rarely have extra money because of what i pay for the car, i cant afford to pay for the maintenance of the car. I always end up selling my other belongings to make up for the loss.
On a side note, if i didnt buy this car and saved all my money, i would be having the time of my life in college haha. Now im stuck working 40 hour weeks while balancing an engineering course work.
But... the bottom line is... i still drive a car that i am in love with. the amount of technical knowledge i gained as a 17 year old from this car is unimaginable. I am a mechanical engineering major in my university, and i cant explain how much knowing my way around a car has given me. I wouldnt trade the experience and the fun ive had with this car for anything else.
Its all good in the hood baby. You gotta do what you gotta do. Most teens have to learn that you cant bullsh!t with older owners. They also have to learn how to drive. lol. ive had 4 friends with "nice" cars total them in high school. Hell, I was even in an accident so i even fit the stereotype.
I could not imagine financing my car current car today (5 years later) though.
Yeah. This is true. I already went through this. I tried to trade my car once. I gave up pretty fast hahaha.

Your sig says it all. You truly sound miserable. As much as I have made fun of Rotas, I hate to hear about yours getting stolen.
BTW, your post have been really good and I can appreciate your honesty.
I can't either

a) i am 19, and i bought my Z when i was 17.
b) i agree with what you said. Most of the younger guys that come on here try to make up stuff about their loans, payments, when/how they got the Z etc...
c) buying my Z when i was 17 was the worst decision i have ever made (financially). Im always broke because im making payments on my car.
d) i still drive a 350Z and i love it more than anything else. So was it worth it? hell yeah. good financial decision? hell no. lol

I know the answer is obvious, but I'm curious as to your response. How in the world did you get a 30,000 at 17?

I am pretty miserable right now actually. hah. The wheels being stolen put me in a pretty bad situation, especially since im in illinois for school and the car is in maryland so i have to do everything remotely. Pain in the as$.
As for my posts, yeah I mean... no reason to lie haha. And what has been said on here about 17 year olds getting a Z is pretty accurate. Its easy to tell when kids are making up stories since ive been there done that haha.
lulz
I got the car with 5 year financing through Sheehy nissan. Cosigned with my father, but all of the payments go through my bank account. Ill be halfway done with the payments after i pay the next payment. Ive missed a couple payments so far though lol. My down payment was really small since thats all i could save up at the time haha.

Why would you not have your car that you are paying on with you at school? Just curious. Any luck on new wheels?
Your Z is either 07 or 08, right? If you are already halfway through your payments you should not be upside down and should be able to get out from under it if thats what you were to choose to do.

The reason that i do not have my car with me:
a) no ****ng parking in evanston, IL. Id have to park it in the street
b) I took myself off of my insurance before i came here, and insured it solely under my dads name. I didnt want to also pay for insurance during my first year at college.
c) I thought the car would be safer in annapolis. Obviously i was wrong haha.
As for the wheels, my insurance agent busted his as$ and got my aftermarket parts covered. I got a check for what I paid for the wheels and tires. He also covered me for lug nuts, pressure sensors, and body damage from the bricks the car is on.
With the check he gave me, I paid the deductible ($1000), and then used the rest to buy a set of 19" G35 rays for pretty cheap. So it all worked out.
The car is going to be towed to the Progressive shop within the next few days so that they can check it out and fix the paint / body damage.

I am working at an installation where a gentleman is getting ready to take an assignment in Okinawa this summer. He has been before and seems to be really looking forward to it. A couple of other people have been stationed there and have said a lot of nice things about it. They are not Air Force, so maybe their base is different.

Sorry to thread jack. But this place is alright if you are not into cars and like Japanese women. The military has found away to **** up a good assignment. This would be a good place to TDY or Deploy but not to PCS too. You couldn't pay me enough to want to come back. But everyone is different he might love it. I just can't take being on such a small island were everyone hates American and can't stand these annoying *** Okinawan girls. Everyone seem to love it here for the first year then island fever kicks in. So far only people who I see that really like it here are the ones that weren't any good at getting American girls.
I would hate Japan.
