i didnt have my own car until a month or two after i turned 18.. sucked bumming rides from friends all through high school... but i had money saved and put a down payment on a Z and im still paying on it. im 19 now.
i was reading through the thread and saw that a lot of people had bad luck with wrecking cars and getting cars stolen, im sorry to hear that. i dont understand how one person can total 3 cars..

21.
2004 Toyota Celica GT-S (traded)
2004 Dodge Neon SRT-4 (sold)
1993 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 (traded)
2004 Pontiac Grand Am (soon to be traded)
2008 Nissan 350Z Enthusiast (soon to be purchased!)
Lots of cars, always buried in debt...
But every dime has been paid by me, aside from the insurance on the Celica (I was living at home and the insurance company was working their person->vehicle rating magic to keep it around $100)
Everything else was me! Including all of the (rather few) mod/upgrade parts.
(And no, I haven't lived with my parents since high school (part of the time I owned the Celica). Happily working and renting my own apartment (and now house ))

Yup, I'm one of your average "work my *** off for the love of motorsports" guy. I bought my Z 2nd hand with great milage and price, completely stock and not one scratch. It was a rear and lucky find. I fell in love with the car as soon as the 1st rumor surfaced on the net, took me 3 years to finally get one!
