Do you think an AUTOMATIC 350z is worth modding?
I still have my 350z but I haven't driven it for awhile. I still love it and I usually drive my 6speed G35. I sort of want to start modding the 350z like getting coils for it then some nice work vs-xx's wheels on it. Anyone here drive an auto that is fully modded?
Some people like the AT and some like the MT. I like both and have an AT since I have been shifting in Houston traffic for over 10 years now. The triptronic is nice to have occassionally, but I have put a few bolt-ons that have made it much more responsive (Kinetix plenum, intake, etc.) I've heard that a GREAT upgrade for ATs would be a new gear set-up which I'm debating at the moment.
Bottom line: Follow the advice given here in previous posts. Decide if you want to keep it, then do your research. There's PLENTY of money to blow on an AT if you want.....trust me!

Some of the only Automatic 350z that have money dumped into them that I have seen have been older dudes that autocross them............
they are usually the crappy drivers that get automatic because in autoX you can get away with it and still score decent times if your a good driver......
me personally, im a track person and not only autoX so I wouldnt touch Auto for nothing..........
why not look into selling and buying another used manual Z??? or trading, selling both and doing that??
So you have a 350z auto and a G35 "coupe" thats manual????
Why not mod the G and sell the Z for part money??

I drive an FX35 RWD, auto and custom boosted. I don't regret ANY of the mods or money I have put into that car because it is such a pleasure to drive. I get more happiness out of that car and the way I have built it to my own plan. If you love your Z, change the things you don't like and keep the things you do like.
Depending on how far you plan to take it, a manual transmission swap is a great learning experience...

I have had MT muscle cars most of my life but my Z is a boosted AT with over 400 whp. I love driving it and when i get on the boost it is constant until i let off the gas. If i listened to most of the ******* on this board i would have sold my Z. Just do what u want and don't worry about what others think as long as u r happy.
Ya, that car red-lit right away, so it just jogged down the 1320 in no rush since he lost before he started. There were some fast cars last night! I saw a few sub 9.5s runs from the comp cars!
OP, it doesnt matter mod it if you like. I would much rather mod an auto Z than a m/t G...but that's just me.
My Z is an auto (mostly show car, not track car) and i LOVE it (I have a CHIT TON of money tied in it w/ no regrets). With the right mods to the tranny, TC, and diff the auto is unstoppable....the best driver on planet earth cant shift as quick and flawless as a computer....game over.
Why do you think most of the pro drag cars you see are auto? And paddle shifting pro race cars? And all the new auto-clutch super cars you see hitting the market nowadays. The m/t does have less drivetrain loss and 1 extra gear in our case, but thats the extent of it and nothing a few mods cant fix.
Bottom line, the m/t is more fun to drive....but that's it. By no means does that make an auto not worth modding. Its just an OLD stigma that's tied to autos and has carried on over the years. Technology nowadays is making this ideal obsolete, though.
