It was financed through Subaru (Chase)... My bank said that they wouldn't be able to get close to that.

A lot of the time the banks associated with the dealerships can do much better. I used Capital One for my Z, and got approved with them for 4.5% APR for the Juke I just purchased, but ended up getting 2.9% through Nissan. Free money.

Hell, a lot of the domestic dealerships will give you 0%.

Yes as long as you pay it every month and aren't late it will build credit.

P.S. I can't believe how much they gave you for your Z. Still not sure how your buddy will make 7 grand on this. Hell, not even sure how he'd make 1 grand on this.

I owe 15k + taxes on it.

I'm a 20 yr old... good way to start my long term credit and get a house in the future?

lulz, shopping based on payment. You'll regret it in 2-3 years when you want to buy a house, and you're stuck with $500/month in insurance and car payments.

There's better ways to build credit than a 60 month loan. $18,780 for a car that will be worth probably half that by the time it's paid off.

I just sold my '04, private sale, and drive a truck I paid $1000 for. I'd rather be putting away that car payment money every month towards a down payment on a house, than thinking I'll build credit and get a better loan.

Dude... if someone buys a car MSRP thats got to be like deal of a lifetime for a dealer. I work with many dealers, and its RARE that you can trick a customer into buying MSRP. If you're educated and well researched, you can get a car UNDER invoice price.

Dealers get end of year incentives on cars, research. See how long they've had the car in their inventory, what the INVOICE price is on the car, what kind of INCENTIVES they get on that car. Trust me, end of year, they are trying to clean out their inventory. I had my brother buy a $32000 G35 for 21 grand back in 2007 at end of the year. That was like 9 grand under MSRP or something like that. Research bro, its well worth it.

Also friend or not - if he's your friend, that only means he'll try to make it seem like a better deal. Trust me, you make most money off of referrals and buddies.

Even if I get a longer loan, I can pay it off quicker by adding to my principal right?
Which is exactly what I would want to do. I want to pay it off asap.

What about trying to get financed through my bank, Wells Fargo? I work there and bank there. They give you a discount on the interest if you have the payments taken out of your WF checking account each month.

I don't know much about what I need to look for.

What would I put up front for the bank? The title for the WRX once they give me the loan (if they do)? I'm sure the Z's salvage title would mean nothing to them.
