Question Value of salvage title 350z?

How can I figure out the trade in value of my 350z?

It's an 06 Grand Touring.

It had a front end collision which is already fixed.

Whatever the dealing is willing to give you. They are going to murk you on trade in value since most likely the dealer will not keep the car on their lot to sell. It will probably go to auction. I know my local dealership does not like the cars at all if they do not have a clean car fax, nevertheless one with a salvaged title. These days buyers are very focused on the carfax so a vehicle with a blemish on its carfax will really affect the marketability of the vehicle.

Why does your car have a salvage title? Fixed front end damage should not equal a salvage title. Did your insurance total the car and did you buy back the totaled car to fix it?

^ this.

Why is the title "Salvage"? Is it recertified to be back on the road? It isn't going to bring diddly at a dealer in trade with a salvage title. It's worthless to them.

A car is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it.

I can only assume the car was totalled then the front end fixed and re-issued a Salvaged title, is that correct?

Figure 60-70% of an equivalent "clean titled" car.

Most dealers will not touch a salvage titled car. Sell it 3rd party, its the best route to take.

I bought it with a salvage title.

It was rebuilt and yes it's certified to be back on the road.

I'm looking at getting a 2011 WRX.

Figuratively speaking, if my car had a clean title and I traded it in, they'd give me 11,000 for it. The WRX is 28,000. My payments would be 289.00 per month.

I'm trying to see if I can sell it third party, since I obviously won't get a good deal through them.

Hence, my assumption of zero from a dealer. Your quote is accurate, but dealers aren't in the business of buying salvage cars. People looking to drive a car they couldn't normally afford are. They'll take that risk.

A dealer is taking your trade then taking it to auction for the most part. They aren't going to "lot" your trade unless it makes sense financially. And a salvage title doesn't make sense to them. While your interjection is accurate, it has little to do with this specific conversation, which was about a "trade in value at a dealer".

The car itself is in great condition. It got a new bumper, hood, passenger headlight and fender. :-/

I'm at a loss.. I wish my car had a clean title. Aren't they giving me a great deal on the WRX?

Yep, sell it. Don't trade it. I'm assuming you could get 8 to 9 k if it's legal and you find the right buyer.

That wouldn't be too bad, compared to the 11k they were going to give me for it.

AutoTrader/Craigs/newspaper here we come.

You do understand that a dealer can make your trade look like 11k when it isn't 11k, right? Just be aware.

+1. They will just mark up the car you are trying to buy and increased your 'trade in value'. I would never trade a car in to the dealership. Put in a little extra work and sell it yourself.

Hmm thanks for letting me know this...
I'm 20 years old. I'm still green when it comes to all this.

The owner of the dealership is a personal friend of mine as is the guy that is selling the car to me (he's my MMA trainer). I'd hope that they don't *** me over on it. But either way, I wouldn't be getting anything for my tainted Z.

He wanted to buy the car today... he said he's already got someone that wants to buy my Z.

as everyone said, your better selling it on your own, which i plan to do because my car is salvaged. look up craigs for salvaged z's around your area, around el paso they people are selling at 10-13k, the higher end being on the most recent year.

the dealer will go, sopmewhat below bluebook, because they need to make money as well, so your car with a clean title is really worth 11k, it may be more.

and yes 289 a month for a rex is a good deal

Sell it on your own... (again, yes I know)... If you get $8k you're pretty much the man.

UMMMMMMMMMMMMM

I talked to the sales man (my MMA trainer once again) and he said that even if it's a salvaged car, he said he'll give me 11k for it. As long as I trade it in and get the WRX tomorrow. I told him I don't think his manager will let him give me that much for a salvage title... and he said "bet" and he shook my hand.

o.O

He said that all that matters to them right now is buying my Z so they can sell it to the person that already wants it (even if it means taking a small loss because it's salvaged), and sell the WRX to me.
Even one of the other sales men wanted to buy my car.
Victor (the salesman), said that if he sold these two cars (WRX and my Z) that he would get a 7k paycheck this month.
..and he would also trade in his Expedition and get himself a WRX lol.

So... what do you guys think? Should I go for it?
So far it's looking like $289/month at 4.9%.

I'm scared... I've never bought a car at a dealership before.
