Default I have given up

I am so used to instant gratifcation with the dotcom days, ie Kozmo.com, and even today with Fedex online tracking, I simply wanted my car as soon as my car showed up as "in stock" at my dealers inventory on NissanDriven.com.

So i came to the conclusion that no one knows anything. Not my dealer, not me,and not Nissan NA. it's all speculation. And the car industry is not built for customer tracking as per say the way we are trying to trace our cars here.

I am going to be realistic and compare the procurement process at nissan to the united states postal service as opposed to fedex..."it will eventually get there, but they cant tell you exactly where it is at this second."

So i will wait patiently. NOT! Give me my fu@&ing Z!!!!!!!!!!!

Default MIA cars Vin#'s

I have just been informed , by one of the people on this site, that my car in fact is not sitting on the docks at Newark.
While that is disappointing it does better explain the 9/19 ETA.
He feels that it may arrive within the week. (hopefully) A boat is due soon @ Newark, hope it misses Tropical storm Eduardo!!!
My question to you all is how many of you on the East Coast, who are still awaiting delivery, have vin serial numbers starting with 1. My serial # begins 100...
I am speculating that cars like mine , while being produced in July, just got shipped later than those beginning with 000... I have had the vin # since 8/01.
Perhaps it has to do with the regions it was shipped to, East vs. West Coasts, or the factory (assembly line) it came off of, or the proverbial "Slowboat from China/Japan"??
Well at least now I can understand why my car hasn't shown up on my dealer's "inventory".

I ordered my "Z" on Feb 2nd. The dealer took 5 pre orders.. I was #1. My VIN ends in 1890. It's a Touring w/6 speed. The dealer got his first car on saturday. It was his #2 order which was a track model with a VIN ending 0589. I see by checking around there are some dealers in the mid-west who have in excess of 8 cars in inventory. Several have higher VIN numbers than mine. It appears the boat must have off loaded them in Texas or Louisana before proceeding to the east coast.

I understand there is a boat due at Port Elizabeth, New Jersey on Sunday or Monday. This may be the boat.. Keeping my fingers crossed..

This was the same thing that happened back in 1974 when I wanted a new 260Z. No dealer had any in stock.. There was no pre-ordering back then and no one knew when a car would come in. It was pot luck.. I passed a local dealer and saw 3 cars being off loaded. By the time I returned later in the day, there was only 1 left, which I quickly put a deposit on. It was not my #1 color choice (they called it persimon which was a cross between red & orange) but I grew to like it.

I think the internet has only fueled everyone's frustration..

Hi ZGirl... The sticker on the window of the "Z" in the showroom at my dealer says port of entry: Elizabeth.. That's the actual port..
