Guys, thanks for all of the advice. I am taking all of next week off so I will have time to really look around in the dash and see exactly what they did, providing it's not super cold. Where is the blower motor located and how do I get to it? Do I need to take the passenger side off or is there a top dash part that I can take off separately? Where exactly is the vent area where they're getting in? The idea of creating my own air filter is a good one.

For what it is worth, the car was sitting for 2 days in the driveway over the weekend. I normally drive it almost every day so the animals didn't have a lot of time to get in there. I don't have a garage right now (planning to build one in a couple of years). It's strange that this has only become a problem this year and we've been at this house for 5 years now. Tonight, I parked the car away from the wooded side of the driveway putting some distance between it and the area where the little bastards are coming from. I'm planning to clear that wooded area out next spring a bit so there is hope long term. What a pain. Maybe I can set some traps and see if I can catch them? I really don't want to poison them as they'll crawl into some corner somewhere, die and stink up the car.

actually a dead chipmonk around the car scares them away, if you cna put up with the smell. Had a customer that brought a 300zx to us on a flatbed, long story short wouldn't run, found acorns in the cylinders, test pipes and exhaust. So i guess moral of the story is get a barn cat or put mesh on any orifice to include exhaust.

I would lock the doors and also make sure the windows are rolled up.

lol...hey just because you drive it everyday does not mean jack. once you get home from where ever at night is when they come and hang out in your car for the warmth it provides after you park it. So i highly doubt in just 2 days this has been occurring. Just your seeing the acorns now due to them harvesting for the winter.

maybe you'll get more advice in a chipmunk forum instead of a z forum.

Fabric softener, rodents hate the smell. Fabreeze only last so long.. I have 3 full boxes in me car right now. Two in the cabin area one in the engine bay. 15 bucks well spent!
Edit> No way. Poison will only stank up your car with the rot of a dead Alvin trap in some compartment that you cant get to.

Park it in your garage and close the garage door.

hey look for having done research on this topic i am only gonna post it one more time. ONLY way to get rid of them is to trap them and move them somewhere else VERY FAR away. So that they do not find there way back. THAT IS IT!

Nothing else works, so do not even waste your time and money on smells, and other BS. I LOL at the guy that has fabric softener all over his Z. Only good thing is that it smells like he's been doing laundry all the time.

TRAP EM!!!

Here's a trick that works. Take a big garbage can and place it close to the Z. Needs to be by a fence, tree, etc. where they can climb up. Fill the can 3/4 full of water and place sunflower seed on top the water. (They won't sink) Place a 1x6 or something close from the fence half way across the can. Sprinkle the board with sunflower seeds. The little bastards will find the seeds, walk across the board, see the seeds in the water, go after them, but won't be able to get back out and die a horrible death by drowning. It works!!! I had 7 on the first night. Not a chipmunk in sight to this day! Plus, they're really good composite in the garden ))))))))

I'll give my brother in law a call and see if I can trap them. He's a pest exterminator and will probably have an array of traps and such. I'll report back when I get something.
