IT IS A MAY 2010 battery with a 2 year 100% replacement warranty and 84 month prorated warranty.

IT IS 9 MONTHS OLD. How do you figure the warranty is out?

Optima batteries are over rated and over priced.

1) Midway Nissan misrepresented the battery as having the stated ON THE BATTERY warranty.

2) What battery in this day and age dies in 9 months????

Obviously nissan batteries lol.

And i thought the punch date was the warranty date. i know on alotta batteries the sticker date is the end of warranty date.

The battery was installed at my insistence as part of the deal by the dealer new 5/10 when I bought the car.

The battery is 9 months old today. I know the date because it was my birthday.

I would not put anything past them. But if it was used how did they get the date right?

You should be covered, and there is no way the battery should die that fast, unless you have extremely strange habits.

I would have taken it to Midway, regardless of the fact that they "stink." They should have the paperwork, and no registered dealer is shi**y enough to botch a new battery install (though some are close.)

I called ABC which is the dealer I have used since my horrendous treatment at Midway. They called Midway after seeing no record in the Nissan database.

I was being polite. Stink is much too kind but saying what I really think would get me banned.

Why does that 9-month old battery look so old and filthy? The original battery in my '08 still looks like new after 40K miles. I'd bet they found an old battery, w/o the date code punched, and installed it in your car. Looks like maybe it's been overcharging, too, with all that acid on top.

There is a manufacture-date code stamped into the front rim of the top of the case, but I don't know how to decode it.

Another very possible scenario. They did have two small cats welded into they Y pipe.

Just another reason I say Midway stinks.

Get in touch with Nissan North America. Be VERY polite and explain the situation. If the person doesn't do anything, ask for their supervisor. Be POLITE! If they dodn't do anything, ask for their boss. If you feel you've gotten up the ladder as far as you can, it's time to tell them you're going to your state's attorney's office. For the cost of the battery, I'll be you get some action.

Years ago I had a 300ZX that started leaking fuel at the injectors. I had my local shop fix it for $850. 6 months later Nissan recalled them for the problem and sent me a check.

Good Luck!

dude, just cause a battery is lasting that long doesnt mean you hold out till the battery dies.........odds are its not cranking up no where near as strong as a new battery would and you are prematurely wearing out your alternator, etc...

if you change a battery when it dies.......you changed it to late...

Can you explain to me why/how an alternator can wear out due to that? Isn't it spinning regardless of whether anything is drawing power from it? Not doubting you, just curious...

We are very fortunate in our area that we have an awesome local Nissan Dealership and hands down the best Z/GT-R Tech in the region. Our Tech and his Dealership are very active with our Z Club as well as the GT-R club and has earned our trust.

To lose a Customer plus prospective future Customers for the cost of a battery is just stupid business sense on the Dealers and Nissan Corporate.

you strain it....it works to charge a battery that wont take charge due to age, it heats up, over heats, corrosion builds in and on the wires, resistance becomes greater........alternator works too hard and holding out to purchase a battery inadvertently prematurely wears your alternator and other components to your starting system...

its bad practice.....if you were to get a new battery slap it into his Z that has an aging (years past its expectant date) old oem battery it would fire up much quicker and smoother as opposed to the original with the years on it......put the original back in and start it again and compare the difference.....its not good practice.....flashlight inspect the entire starting system......look for corrosion, pillowed wire sheathing, etc...

It does look like an old battery , I would love to see the date code. Look for a small decal with a letter followed by a number. Example C-9 , stands for production date of march 09
