well how i get rid of that crap... i keep cleaning and cleaning...and once i stopped cleaning for like 5 days... and my rims looked like beefed up hubcaps.....i want it off...forever.... anyone?
Your best bet is to upgrade to better brake pads...use the search function to search the forums.
FYI - Brake pads that develope less dust a prone to sqeaking at times...it's a trade off.
Also you can polish/wax your wheels and it will come off easier.

Guess the Brembo's help keep the dust to a minimum cuz I went
on a twisty mountain run with a bunch of Z's and drove the hell out of my TRACK!

I have no idea what color my wheels were originally (12,000 miles and 0 carwashes ago) and I really don't give a crap. As long as the lap times are good, my wheels could be purple for all I care.
To the OP: Quit worrying about your wheels being dirty and drive the car! You can't see the wheels when you're blipping the throttle for turn 1 anyway!

If it really bugs you, change your brake pads to ceramic brake pads. Ceramics have a high tolerance to compressive stresses and therefore do not wear - and since it won't wear, no dust! It will last the life of your car and some. I would've changed my brake pads already if I weren't so busy with school learning about more stupid stuff like that material science crap I just mentioned.
Jason....Thanks for the tip!
I've been dreaming of buying black rims.......now I don't need to!
I'll quit being **** about cleaning my wheels when I do my pre-track bleedings! Should I also forget about a brake duct cooling kit? As it may blow away the dust?
Question? Should I leave the "chunks of rubber" for a "textured" look?

Me, personally, like my car to look as good as it drives.

hmm if i decided to change pads...then whats a good break pad for a Z? i know the base model brakes are almost good as the brembo's? if not the same? isn't that right or am i talking outta my ***...
Whatever you decide to do with your stock brakes (change pads..Greenstuff, Hawk, etc...) make sure you get out of the habit of cleaning your wheels with a "paper towel" !!!!
NEVER use anything that used to be a TREE on your Z. Hey, that's a ryhme.
The paper towels will scratch your clear coat, not only on your wheels but also on the body. ONLY USE 100% cotton towles on your car.
Just my 2 cents

Cleaning RIMs? Old cotton socks work good.
I personally have an old sheepskin Mitt which is no longer used to clean the car which is now relegated to RIM cleaning.
Brake dust is normal. Don't sweat it. Try and clean it as often as possible. I can't count the number of BMW's and MB's I see with front wheels that look like dog doo.
It seems they have enough brains to make the money to afford the car but don't have the brains to keep the wheels clean. Or they just don't care.
