Angry i'm going to be sick.

so the freaking day after i get my car back with the new tranny, i hit a curb.

it was late, i turned vcd off (as i usually do) and i'll be damned if the cold tires just didn't want to hook up. blah. second gear whipped my tail around. recoverd twice (over corrected) and the third tail whip got the better of me.

hooray for not having my car for another 3-5 weeks. *sigh*

this was the rim that caught the worst of it. the front passenger was bent too. i'm gonna see if ins will replace both front and that rear wheel (the drivers side rim is scuffed) obviously there's relatively extensive amount of suspension work required. the front bumper and underbody spoiler need to be replaced (bumper at least painted) and there are some minor scuffs that incurred (which i will get removed)

*sigh* i JUST got her back too.

yeah, i sure might. it's at the dealership right now. i'm going to have them do the write up on parts and see what the cost is (ins is picking it up) but if i can get a quote on dealership cost then pay a little less, i wouldn't complain.

i just hope the frame isn't tweaked. i don't think it is, but i did hit pretty hard. the undercarriage got scraped up too.

Sorry to hear what happened. How come you turned your VDC off? This is specifically the kind of thing the VDC is supposed to prevent.

If I do something like this, I hope you guys don't say things to "make me feel better".

I rather you guys say things that will make me NOT DO IT AGAIN.

Yeah, but there's a big difference in the way that spf4000, and that smart-a$$ Pure Tremble stated their responses.

That sucks! My Z was also hit in the rear wheel area. Replaced wheel, bumper, everything that connects to the wheel. Side rear panel fixed. Costed about 3k. But after about a week I got my car back,I hit a raccoon and does damage to the front bumper and washer reservoir!!!

That is really not pretty at all! VERY sorry to hear that and sad to see that.

Get the quote from your dealer, We will get you the parts cheeper (most likely) and rather then spending 1400 list for ONE new track wheel, A set of LMGT4's for 1850 sounds in order.

If it makes you feel better, I turn VDC off as soon as I start my Z.

I swear the car feels different when you drive it with VDC on.

jason, agreed. cars just more fun to drive. it feels so completely different. it also saves on brake pads too.

heh, though in retrospect perhaps i would've rather spend money on the pads. heh.

I guess the key thing is to learn from what you did to cause the car to lose traction, lets face it VDC has been always been around and not all cars have it and you do not see cars losing control all over the place.

You know those stock Bridgestones are lame and should take part of the blame. Even my S-03's need time to heat up before they start to stick to the road. But they are clearly better than those crappy RE040 whatevers that provide no grip at all.

Also have to remember that this is a powerful car, especially when a low gear is in the upper RPM range it is VERY easy to loose the rear.
